Hi wonder if anybody can give me some advice bit stuck here.

Just moved house and managed to lose the fob that operates the alarm and immobilizer, the car is a 2000 x reg mk3 and when i bought it i only got one key which will unlock the car door but not start it unless the key on the fob has been pressed first. The fob is a separate piece (not a bladed key with buttons) http://s624.photobucket.com/user/adamchallis/media/20d20fb1.jpg.html same as this. Am i right in thinking this is not a factory fitted alarm/immobilizer and if so can i somehow disable it?

If not do i need to replace the ecu with a matching transponder and would this work with the key i have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181705749882?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, or can i call out an auto electrician reprogram a new fob to the ecu, any ideas anyone?

Looks like aftermarket fobs....should be removable.

A good auto locksmith shoud be able to code new keys to your system without replacing the ecu etc,its been done on here for lost keys etc.....iirc around £200 with a new key.

Sounds like your car is a import best bet is remove the alarm that's on the car and all will be good

Sounds like an aftermarket alarm.
You need to find the box for the alarm, most likely all the wires will be black, so Google the model of it to get a wiring diagram, find the 2 wires for the immobiliser cut... join the together or follow them and join the wire back up that has been cut to connect them,

Oh.. forgot to say for some alarms you can buy a bypass plug.. you unplug the alarm box and replace it with a bypass socket so you don't have to mess around rewiring the car when removing alarms.. find the alarm unit and Google the make of it.
MR2 mk3 2001 -- done some stuff to it.
