Hi all,

When I turn the radio on the aerial extends fully but the motor does not stop whirring and grinding. Is this simply a new aerial or is there anything else to check first e.g. Relay?

Thanks

Does it retract correctly?
The problem is that there are worn teeth at the extreme end of the mast's 'rat's tail'.
There is a free fix for this.
It involves removing the aerial unit from the vehicle. If you then open the cylindrical housing which contains the nylon spiral rat's tail. Cut the last bit off where the damage is and then use a soldering iron to melt the tip to create a blob of nylon large enough to prevent it passing through the mechanism. This will cause the aerial to stop at a slightly lower height but will prevent the motor overrunning.

Either that or buy a new mast for about £40 or source a replacement unit.
