Not that I am planning on buying these (especially not at nearly £1000), but I spotted them and wondered if they were even legal on UK roads:

Good point, but assuming that it was possible to get ones set up to point the correct way in a RHD vehicle, what about the rest of it?  Do you (or anyone else) know if a light of that type retro fitted to our cars would be legal in the UK?

As far as I can tell someone has just bought mini morimotos installed them and then is selling them on...

I plan at a later date to do it myself- it's essentially a full kit that you just install quite easily... Save yourself $600 and do it yourself..

The legality will depend upon your friendly MOT tester. For UK use, they, of course, ought dip to the correct side, but also have self-levelling and washers.

I too have looked at the custom lights, but their huge cost outweighs the marginal aesthetic improvement to the car IMHO.
The lights on the FL MR2 Roadster - particularly the front - are the worst design aspects of the car. I much prefer the PF designs.

Think aftermarket HIDs don't have to have washers but self leveling is required.
The rest,as said, is down to the tester.

I was led to believe that fitting HIDs as replacements was illegal

Really?
I can't stand pfl rears and the fronts are terribly poor at their job compared to FL.

I can't stand pfl rears and the fronts are terribly poor at their job compared to FL.

PFL headlights are great if you only drive in the day time.
1MZFE, Emerald ECU, LSD, BC coilovers, custom middle & front under brace, F / R strut brace. Slotted discs & yellow pads, Blue flame exhaust.
Carrera leather seats, Davids bars, Focal subwoofer & voce speakers & bling !

Agreed. Visibility down the Northumberland back roads improved massively when I went facelift. Both with Osram Night breakers.

It's not the first time I've heard someone say they preferred the look of the PFL lights though

But... But... I live out in the country with no street light and my PFL headlamps are fin... actually, I can't see a thing.  I'm going to upgrade by glueing a candle to the bumper.  s:lol: :lol: s:lol:

Actually, they're not that bad.  I've driven cars with worse headlamps.  I'm going to upgrade to night breakers or something though.  Back in the day, we used to just keep strapping spotlamps to the front of our cars until there was enough light.  A mate of mine had a (real) mini with so many lamps on the front it was at risk of toppling forwards under the weight.  s:lol: :lol: s:lol:

I have seen a few guides to retrofit projector units into the reflector housings.
