I'm looking at replacing the rear bumper, please can anyone tell me if there's a way to determine which silver (1D0 or 1E7) a seller actually has assuming they don't know the reg it came off, because I don't want to waste time driving to collect one only to find it's the wrong silver?
I don't have a direct answer, but
As far as I understand, each panel has a sticker on it. That sticker reveals a lot about the manufacturer.
It might just cover the paint code.
If not on here, there are others that explain/breakdown the vin number.
Visually the facelift silver has a kind of blueish tint to it where the pfl is quite a flat silver.
In terms of the rear bumper the PFL didn't have the painted inserts so either look for one without inserts or one with inserts a slightly different colour to the rest.
But all of this relies on the eyes of the seller if you don't want to go as far as looking yourself.

Thanks, I should have realised myself that the PFL & FL bumpers are physically different, therefore unless resprayed a PFL will be 1D0 & the FL 1E7.
Also if a panel still has a VIN sticker, does anyone know if there's a free online VIN website that can provide the paint code?
Don't know if this helps:
Info:- Paint Codes (https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your2/mk2/95-mk2-general-info/414-info-paint-codes.html)
In fact the difference between the bumpers is purely the inserts, which are removable and swappable.
PFL silver is 1D0. If a bumper has the PFL inserts, it will almost certainly be PFL.
The easiest way would be to buy my fl rear inserts, then you could see for yourself!

Thanks, that's useful if the seller still has the car as it deciphers the lower part of the VIN plate.
@MikeBoo Don't trust that link as it's for the Mk2.
Try this: Car Colours & Paint Codes (https://www.mr2roc.org/forum/index.php?topic=21734.0)
This (https://www.vindecoderz.com/) provides the build sheet from the VIN:
Brand: TOYOTA
Name: MR2
Description: ZZW30
Date: mm.yyyy
Framecolor: nxn
Trimcolor: xxnn
ProdPeriod: mm.yyyy - nn.yyyy
Yep on the Vin plate by the battery bottom line 1st 3 digits is paint code.
