So the drive is now done! Which meant I could pull the car out of the garage and look at some bits on it.

I'm still not 100% satisfied with the gear through and it returning to the middle with enough vigour that it may potentially cause an issue money shifting from 5th to reverse.

I played about with various springs and rubber bands to try and get it somewhere near but it would have just been a bodge, and whilst I'm generally happy to bodge most things, this is just too much of a risk.

So I've bitten the bullet and bought a new set of gear cables and ........the RZR shifter.

Can't wait for it to arrive and get it fitted.

Quote from: fawtytoo on Yesterday at 10:56I doubt it's been changed at all as its not a service item and most mechanics shy away from semi-autos even at Mr T. From my own understanding there is nothing inside to corrode. With that low mileage I shouldn't worry but it's always worth replacing the fluid anyhow. The fluid costs about £100 for a 1l tin from Mr T which should give you approx 3 changes.

As the stuff is hygroscopic would not trust refreshing from an opened tin.

Changed the fluid in mine with @Beachbum957  suggestion when I got her. Was cristal clear. Still flushed the system. Last year flushed/refreshed again.

A though had occurred to me that although you've installed the drivers for the software in Windows 98, should there also be drivers installed on the host Windows 7? I don't know if USB devices work in VM's if they don't in the host. Have you checked the device manager in Windows 7?

Well. We did a thing.
50 litres of tesco's finest.
a set of brake pads.
We managed to finally ruin the rear tyres.

What an absolutely glorious day. Anton (a fellow MR2 enthusiast and the one that currently homes the thing), myself, And Jorge, had a mega day having fun in Anglesey not turning a single spanner.

Oil consumption is now pretty much negligible. Kind of weird, but we healed an engine bashing it to the limiter.

I can't stress enough how cool is to show up to a trackday with that thing, not having to worry about anything, drive it, and then get back home like nothing happened... and I can't believe that nobody else chipped in to get this car. Anton, that was hesitant before actually committing his garage space to host "that thing" jumped out of the car saying "is the best thing I've ever driven, when is the next trackday".

I really hope that if we don't bin it, someone will actually get her when we are done playing with her.

Anyway. No videos, we couldn't deal with the stress of recording it.

I like this picture with a glorious mid engine sportscar.... and a Cayman...

Thanks @AdamR28 we love you

I decided to try a new subwoofer. This one has a 6.75 woofer with passive radiator weighing in at 12 lbs but it was worth it over the previous powered sub I was using. This sub enclosure is shallow and fits the passenger foot well with enough leg room for a passenger.

I knew it would be louder and deeper but I wasn't expecting to sound like a 10" subwoofer.
I am about sound quality not booming bass but this is probably the loudest subwoofer I have heard for its size where you can actually feel it.
