I'm honestly surprised the wheel took a hit like that and didn't crack a spoke but just damaged the lip.
Must be a lot stronger than I would normally give cast wheels credit for.
Good to hear there's a way to mend it, it's all coming back together relatively quickly.
Best regards,
Arthur

Damage repairs underway, a little pulling and tapping

Sanded back and sprayed with zinc primer and some yellow paint, not colour matched.

Also fitted some air horns 🤘

Mark A

Tyre off the wheel, it just needs packing up.

Mark A

Headlight replacement found 😀

Thanks Karthoum

Update from the weekend, welded a washer to the wing to repair the headlight mounting point, generally cleaned up the surface rust so hopefully it's good for 10 years.Zinc primer and yellow paint plus I'll use some cavity wax. Wing looks very slightly faded so it will need a cut and polish.

Slight repair to newish wing,

Well it is back together, not 100% perfect but pretty close to its original (Pre bump) condition, bar the wheel which away being repaired. When I have some more time I'll sort out a couple of the annoyances, particularly the slight difference in colour of the passenger wing, which I have cut and DA polished.

Thanks to all those that helped me to sources parts.

:) excellent to have another custard still going in our sunshine community 8)
your hard work to put back together again has paid off  :)  :)

Had an update from the wheel repair chap, it looks ok in the picture and hopefully I should have it back by next week to be repainted.

I do like those wheels.
As with a lot of things I've sold throughout the years, I wish I hadn't.
Looks like a fine repair.

Thanks Arthur

I don't suppose you had them powder coated in a particular colour? I appreciate it is probably years ago.

SuperArt

Been too long mate. Can only tell you a Paul from here sold them to me, he had them powder coated. I seem to remember he told me it was a Ford colour but don't quote me. Memory like a sieve.

Quick update

Wheel is back and looks amazing just waiting to drop it off and see if they can colour match the powder coating.

Bought a half cage and started the process of soft top delete and getting the car ready for fitting. I had not appreciated that the hard top side bracket mount to soft top frame or that the cage deletes the seatbelts, so took a little time to cut two brackets from the redundant frame so I can run belts until the cage is welded in.

Two minor but very important details added today
1. The TSport badge must be worth an extra 5hp
2. Vinyl number plate added, let's see how long before I get pulled over 🤣

Quick but important update.

Recently I'd been unhappy with the handling left to right and in the course of fault tracing I noticed I'd broken a KW variant spring, new set ordered and on its way so hopefully a quick fix

My Lithium battery had recently been playing up so I swapped it out for small lead acid motor bike which works wellish. I noticed the lithium battery was flat the other day and decide to give it a go with the proper lithium charger. I left over night only to be woken by the sound of a faint alarm in the garage. When I opened the garage side door and the battery charger was alarming and the battery was in the final stages of overheating. The garage was filled with thick toxic fumes, I managed to cut the power and use a pole to carry the battery outside.
I won't be using a Lithium battery again, I will be fitting a fire alarm in the garage and I'll move the fire extinguisher to the door, not half way across the garage.

I was at a trackday recently and one of the Marshalls said that he watched two cars burn down to the ground due to lithium batteries catching fire.

He said no amount of extinguishing could put the fire out. They just had to watch them burn.

Once they catch fire, it's basically game over. You were very, very, very lucky.

It could have taken your car and entire garage with it.

In other news my Daughter split up with her boyfriend recently and has moved back home, real shame  ;D

Wheel fixed and repainted, done as favour and a slightly different shade so I'll need to get the other 3 done over winter.

Bit late to this thread, but I've had no issues at mot or on the road re my stick on plate.
Correct font, correct size and spacing.
Would be a real bad at the office to get pulled for that, given some of the blatant abuses of number plate jiggery pokery.
