New Owner and here it is..

Hi,

Picked up this lovely 2003 last week. Only two owners from new, 97k, FSH and comes with its original hard top. It's been loved all its life and I've just spoken to the previous owner who had it 11 years before me. My first ever convertible and Japanese car - its great fun to drive and I'm enjoying it !

Hello and welcome.
A Blue 2, FL, in period, was my first recollection of the model. Maybe that's the one! Similarly, my, PFL car purchased in 2011, is  my first convertible and my first Japanese car and I still enjoy driving it, but, perhaps, not often enough!
FSH and " Just spoken to the previous owner" likely means garage care all of it's life and you have purchased from a dealer.
Having just yesterday witnessed the MOT on my car and some years ago having  my first four services done by Mr T  some thoughts were confirmed.
The tester lifted the front hood and noted inspection was not possible with the OE plastics in place. Of course the same applies under the car.
From personal experience things can deteriorate, unseen by some "professionals" and I suggest it is well worth checking some things for oneself.
If you are to be a regular on here you will learn what those "things" are.

if me i would always take to a trusted garage/ mate give it the good going over so you no what level your starting from. then a possible service as well.

what made you buy your 2 and what id your pervious car history.

for now just enjoy every trip out as each 1 will put a smile on face

Carpets....

Couldn't believe how much dirt was in the carpets. Highly recommend this little VAX SpotWasher.

Next job is to clean and treat underneath the front - All the plastics removed and it doesn't look too bad to me ...opinions?

That's surprisingly clean under there.

You'd do well to keep it that way.

Doesnt look too bad under there. The steering UJ doesnt look too bad considering. A wire brush and then lots of grease should help preserve it.

If you decide to take the earths off on the suspension turrets to clean them up, go very slowly out then back in to gradually remove them, even when you think they are turning smoothly, they are made of chocolate and are waiting to shear off!

Not too bad at all.
I suggest some greasing of the steering UJ and a look at the Power Steering pipes that are just out of the picture.
Inside the front cross member is also where  I used some Bilt Hamber spray when I sprayed inside the rear cross member.
The ABS bracket may be corroded, mine was well gone, I managed to repair mine. Another member had a friend who made a new bracket. I understand that, unfortunately, a replacement is no longer available

All Cleaned up, Steering UJ rust treated and greased up. New clips as the old ones just disintegrated.

It's ok, had mine re-gassed today (the system requires 500g) - so can confirm there is a sightglass.
It can only be seen with the large cover removed.

The low (L) and high (H) pressure ports are on the nearside just inboard of the B fusebox.
The sightglass is immediately below the high pressure port.

To gain access and a better view - unbolt the frunk box (4 bolts) and gently move it towards the power steering reservoir. There is no need to mess with the alarm or its wiring.
