Title: *Last Day!* MR2-ROC Username Plates [NOT ROAD LEGAL]
Post by: Anonymous on February 27, 2006, 17:50
Ladies and gentleman, I present to you... The Official MR2-ROC Username Number Plates!

We've designed these specifically with trackday events and JAE in mind, so you can instantly tell who's car belongs to who on the day, as well as who is behind the wheel of said car in trackday sideways action shots. The plate you see above is the first prototype, so there will be minimal design changes to be made (the centering of the username in relation to the plate, for example), but it's as close to the finished version as you'll get.

The perspex itself is exactly what my local numberplate specialist uses to make the real ones, so the quality is exactly the same as what you have on your car now. The font for the lettering is the same as the ROC logo, and as you can see stands out very clearly. The ROC logo on the side just adds that extra touch of class.  s8) 8) s8)

The cost for a pair of plates (white for the front, and yellow for the rear) will be £28, which also includes a small donation to club funds. This cost may vary slightly upon finished production, but we certainly don't expect it to be anything worth shouting about. This plate will last for ages, so it's not as if you need to buy one every year (unless you change your name, of course!).

The first batch of plates will be ready in time for the IMOC Anglesey weekend, so if you're coming along to that then shout up now and I'll make sure you have yours in time. If anyone else would like one, please also say now as it will be likely that these will be produced in batches rather than one-offs to keep costs down.

So, who wants one of these?

Ekona - Full set
Markiii - Full set
Slacey - Front only

how about doing the plates with the the club logo and the peoples own dvla issued numbers? possibly even a number plate maker template like the excellent one for the dials?

nice in principle but we have legal loopholes to go through to make this work, not least of whihc is that these plates are not reflective.

fine for track and showuse, but not good fro road use

fitting numberplates can be a S.O.B on the '2.
Are these going to be a screw in like the normal plate, or do you think we could fit them over the originals some how, making it easier to fit and that off??

Just a tought

Post by: philster_d on February 28, 2006, 10:33
I was thinking I will probably wire or cable tie mine on somehow.

Then they will be easy off.

Philster.

Post by: markiii on February 28, 2006, 10:41
they will come without holes.

should you decide to drill them to fit, stick them over teh existing or wire them ion as Phil suggested,

all options should work.

Hehe thought it was dan who really excelled after finaly discovering a positive use for his "reaching around and unhooking a girls bra in the dark" skills, along with his Huuuuuge pliers. hehe

We design the plate ourselves, so we just alter the font size to accomodate larger usernames.

 s:) :) s:)  not a problem Roger.

I don't think I can justify the additional cost of these at the mo. Looks like a piece of A4 paper for me...  s:cry:  s:cry:

Maybe for JAE.

Right, I'd completely forgotten about this so I guess it's about time I sorted it out!  s:oops:  s:oops:

Has everyone paid me for these? I honestly can't remember, so I'm relying on people's honesty here to see me right as I have to pay Mark for materials and donate money to Club finds as well. The one exception is Peter, as I know I still have yours: PM me your address and I'll send it on, along with details of how to pay.

Thanks all, I appreciate your help.
