Title: Mk1 vs Mk3 on Top Gear - now online..
Post by: aaronjb on January 7, 2004, 21:52
Ok, first attempt at grabbing the video - sorry the audio goes a little out of sync, and it's quite large (10Mb.. sorry modem peoples! I'll try and shrink it or do a smaller version in a minute though).

If you can't play it, let me know - it's using the Indeo video 5.10 Compression Filter for video and MPEG Layer-3 for audio, which I think come standard with everything from Media Player 7 onward.. but I could be wrong.

Please, right click and Save As  s;) ;) s;)

Mk1 vs Mk3, 10Mb, 1min 15s (http://www.mind-design.demon.co.uk/mk1-vs-mk3.avi)

Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo vs Nissan 350Z, 6Mb, 45secs (http://www.mind-design.demon.co.uk/z32-vs-z33.avi)

Ok, I put the Nissan one up too, just coz I own a 300ZX  s;) ;) s;)

[edit] Here's a smaller version of the MR2 video;

Mk1 vs Mk3 without the chit-chat, 2.8Mb, 20secs (http://www.mind-design.co.uk/mk1-vs-mk3-small.avi)

So terribly wrong.

Black isn't a colour at all.

It's the lack of colours.

Black things, like holes, they just suck  s8) 8) s8)

well silver is just a dirty white, and quite plainly got whipped by the mighty black!!

How did you grab that from tape?  Video in to a tv card?

Yup - just an old Hauppauge WinTV PCI card via the aerial (it's not even a decent card with S-Video in!).. I really must get something better as a TV card/capture card..

I still can't get it to work even with WMP9... hmm...
Title:
Post by: aaronjb on January 8, 2004, 13:58
Very strange indeed - just tried it at work (WMP9, Win2k pro) and it worked here too.

What OS are you running btw?
Title:
Post by: Chris on January 8, 2004, 14:16
same here - w2k sp4 with wmp 9.00.00.3008 (with the system update)
and it plays fine.  Doesn't work in quick time 6.3 though...

This episode of Top Gear will be repeated on UK Horizons at 10pm this Wednesday...........

........or maybe next Wednesday if I have got the weeks wrong.
Title:
Post by: aaronjb on January 12, 2004, 12:16
According to my guide, this week is;

Motoring magazine featuring news on the latest cars, presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and Jason Dawe. Jeremy goes on manoeuvres in a Hummer, the off-roader based on the US military's jeep. Footballer Graham Le Saux nominates his greatest car. Alan Davies is the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car. (Premiere, Subtitles)
And next week is;

Motoring magazine with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Richard and James test the latest new convertibles, while Jeremy puts the Nissan 350Z through its paces. Supermodel Jodie Kidd is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. (Premiere, Subtitles)

Hmm - I haven't watched the rest of the programme on the video yet, so not sure which of those two it is..

Not sure if its true, but it took 'em 4 attempts for the Mk3 to
win :o)

Would've been nice if they could've got a Mk2 there aswell!
