Title: Dyno PowerFC vs Stock ECU
Post by: MadMigMR2 on January 8, 2004, 00:43
Today i decided to do 2 dynos to have a baseline to start playing with the PowerFC

The dynos were with this setup

- Gasoline: Shell VPOWER 98 octane (or maybee a little more)
- Stock Air Box with TRD drop in and larger inlect duct in aluminium
- TRD Header without heat shields (means more heat = less hp)
- stock main cat
- TTE Exhaust

1 dyno with PowerFC with everything stock, except the rev limit that was raised to 7300RPM

1 dyno with stock ECU.

And the results are:

Information colected on the fc datalogit on the powerfc run:

I have won 12NM in torque from the stock ecu to the powerfc.

stock: 180NM
powerfc: 192NM

Has i expected the powerfc isn't tuned to get good values on the top end rpm's

But with some dyno tuning the values will go up for sure.

And with this base values i do believe that i will go above 160HP for sure.

192NM (~141 ft-lb) is a very good value

Another funny thing is that it seems that TRD was correct when they said a gain of 15hp for the trd headers, inlet duct and exhaust.

That is exactly what i got with the stock ecu and that mods.   s:roll:  s:roll:
Maybee they tested his cars on a similar dyno machine   s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:

About that logged curve...it looks like the knock-value starts rising with the rpm. Is that real knock, or just noise..? That value would be considered as real knock..?

what graph and color line are you talking about?

Knock is the red line on the second graph

Ah, now I got it, thanks  s8) 8) s8)

I took the green line in the 2nd graph for knock...now that you mentioned that, seems like the explanations match colour with the graphs. Now they actually make more sense  s:lol:  s:lol:

So is anybody going to translate that into english then?

I *think*;

Thick light red line on graph - power to the wheels before the PowerFC went on.
Thin dark red line - power to the wheels after PowerFC.

Thick light yellow line - power at the flywheel before PowerFC
Thin dark yellow line - power at the fly after PowerFC

Green lines at the bottom - drivetrain losses (measured at coast-down)

Can't work out what the blue lines are though.. (binario?)

Remember those gains are just from putting on the PowerFC, without any major tweaks (from the original message)

First Graphic:
yellow line : PIM ?!?!?!!?

Second Graphic
green: speed
red: knock

Third Graphic
yellow: VVTI control
dark red: RPM

Fourth graphic:
green: Ignition
blue: Air temperature read by MAF
yellow and red: O2 sensores on the headers.

That's it

I'm still just a curious exploring the software and it's features
