Title: Dual Centred Exhaust
Post by: crankshaft on January 12, 2004, 07:42
Hi everyone;

Does anyone know if there's a dual (or quad   s:lol: :lol: s:lol:  ) centred exhaust available similar to the Boxtster ?

Thanx

The only centre exhaust I know of was from Ricoh Racing, but they've stopped officially manufacture. japanparts.com may have it listed but I've not checked. A centred designed isn't the easiest to manufacture as there isn't enough space to run it straight back and still include CATs/silencers so lots of bends required. If you're still keen, talk to H&S, or more local for you, Torque Technics (Wilton nr. Salisbury) but given the one off nature expect to pay upwards of 400-500.

As far as I know there is one commercial centre exit, Adam (Jap GT300) will know what it is, here are some pics nicked from Spyderchat, the car belongs to a friend of MadMig's, it's a custom built job.

Torque Technics is a small(!) workshop whom design and manufacture bespoke exhaust systems and no more.

Millway ( w www.millwayvehiclespecialists.co.uk (http://www.millwayvehiclespecialists.co.uk) w ) is the place the dyno & extensive mk3 experience (uh, largely paid for by me..). They're over in Andover, but it's only a hop on the A303 so not really that bad and well worth the peace of mind.

Both companies have further write ups else on site.

Not quite together at the center though...

The exhaust on the red "2" simply looks wrong. There's gotta be better centre exits out there - or should I say better integrated.

If you want i can take some pictures of this custom job exhaust system

Let me just say that this car has almost the same power than mine with the trd header and tte exhaust   s8) 8) s8)
Just a bit less torque (178NM i think), but a good hp value around 155hp

It has lower pressure because there is no cats and the exhaust also has lower pressure than my tte. And because of this lower pressure, it gives good high end rpm values (hp) but a bit lower torque numbers across all rpm

This exhaust system is composed by a stock header with the baby cats destroyed   s:twisted: :twisted: s:twisted:  (ceramic removed) and a direct pipe from the header to the exhaust and then from the exhaust the dual central exits.

There is no cat   s:roll: :roll: s:roll:  and has some electronics to fool the ecu because ot the 3rd sensor that was after the main cat.

Ricoh Racing sell a centre twin exit and so do Zees.  You should be able to get both of these from Japanparts.

MR-S Turbo, is that the Ricoh you have?  It looks distinctly like it.
