I'm currently getting a price from Japanparts as a couple of members are showing an interest in these; when I have the price I will run a small GB for anyone who's interested.
are the 03 vents coloured? what is the diff?

The older ones are those nasty cheap black plastic looking ones (no offence anyone that likes them!)
In France we can have it for 73 Euros from Toyota.

Yep, they come pre-painted in all the current colours.. one thing to be aware of though, the '03 silver is a slightly different shade to the previous years, so there is a subtle difference, although it isn't really noticable.
I am expecting the price to be around £60 delivered, I will confirm when Japanparts get back to me.
If anyone is interested, a quick shout on here will give me some idea how many we are looking at.

I would love 03 vents but not too sure what colour would look good.
I think metalic black wouldn't look right and I am not sure how a resprayed green would look. (plus the extra expense of course).
Anyone any thoughts?

I think you'd have to go green.. I can't think of any other colours that wouldn't just look silly, unless you had the whole car done, or could get them in carbon fibre or chrome look...

the chrome ones from japan parts are £110 delivered.
i looked into these about a month ago but the pics arent that clear on the site as the pic of the whole car is tiny.

Just my personal opinion but the chrome ones look very plasticky and a bit tacky.
At that price just want you to be sure.

I quite like it. Red wouldn't fit in with the chrome filler cap. The thing that ruins the look of the chrome intake is the yellow side repeater. They should be clear. Indeed, they were sprayed stock vents, as I recall - but they're the ones Mark was referring to, and give an idea of the general effect, if not entirely accurate.
I'll have a pair in silver please, how do we go about getting you the money ? and were you able to get any discount on the 60.00 price for a group buy ??

Yep, got the price down to under £60 delivered, see my post in the Sales / GB forum.
Mine were not painted they were replacement chrome vents from Japan!

"Everyone" used to do that before 2003...
Most think that they look better than the unpainted stock ones, but worse than the 2003 ones.

I got mine painted recently (Lagoon blue) after seeing cartell's (Silver), cartell's 2 can be seen on "Appearance Related" page 5 "Brake Caliper Painting" (cartells car looks ssooooo good in those pictures, I'm sure he used a professional photographer s:twisted: :twisted: s:twisted: ).
I think mine look better than they did but I'd still like to sort the grille out s8) 8) s8) .

Personally I just don't like the dimpled design, I think they look cheap, but I do agree thay look a bit better painted.

IMHO the pre-03 vents look absolutely awful! s:shock: :shock: s:shock: I couldn't wait to get rid of mine and replace them with 03 vents as soon as they were available!
it's not just a colour thing, (despite the original ones looking like grey tupperware plastic!), the 03 vents are a totally different style, and really improve the look of the car.
I can confirm that the lagoon blue 03 vents are an identical colour to the pre-03 body colour btw, a perfect match!
Obviously we could get onto the next compulsory appearance mod.... clear side repeaters... but that's another topic! s:wink: :wink: s:wink:
