Title: "Do you want to wash mine too?"
Post by: jinxedkitten on July 26, 2014, 15:44
Dear people who walk/drive past whilst I am washing my car and ask the above stupid question.

What do you think. If I wanted to wash stranger's cars, I would work as a valet or in a car wash. Am I wearing a car wash uniform? Am I bumbling around a supermarket carpark shoving a little metal trolley into the sides of people's cars, offering to wash then for a fiver? Quite blatantly not.

The only time I would answer yes to this question is if you were perhaps driving a particularly beautiful classic or a very shiny sports car indeed (or maybe another mr2 if I am feeling generous) and the weather is beautiful.

The time I spend washing my 2 is bonding time - I can pay attention to any new marks or paint chips, I can make sure she is in the best of shape and I can lavish the attention on her she deserves.  Yes, I feel sorry for your car, even if it is a POS, that you don't wish to show it the same care and love, but that doesn't mean I will, so just keep on going.

If you want to start a conversation with me, ask about the car itself, I'm more than happy to talk about that.  What's worse is you possibly believe you are being funny and original, when infact the last three people who went passed also just said exactly the same thing, so now it's repetitive and just plain annoying.

Please stop it!

Much love,
Me.

PS I may also answer yes to washing a motorbike, but it would have to be a very special one indeed as they are sods to get clean.

Having just posted this, whilst washing my car just now, someone who lives relatively near by pulled up and said "isn't it about time you sold it?" I asked "why's that?" To which he replied "because I want to buy it!"

We then had an excellent conversation about the car and his previously owned spitfires.

That's how you do talking to someone while they wash their car  s:) :) s:)

See, that statement is the reason we keep getting cold / ghost calls on the phone, why junk mail keeps getting shoved through the door and why people cold call at your house or whatever, why pop ups are all over the mobile device.
It's just a numbers game, ask the same question to enough people, all of the time and sooner or later somebody will say YES!
When you get a no get happy, you're one call nearer the yes!   s:lol:  s:lol:

There is always a chance that people may just want to start a conversation with you, and they may just want to be nice.

just a thought !!

See above - if people want to start a conversation with me, then ask about the car maybe? I'm more than happy to chat to random people about most things, and often do. Its a stupid thing to try and start a conversation with as the question isn't open ended (resulting in a yes or no rather than a discussion type answer), and thus inconducive to continuing to converse easily.

Maybe I am judging too harshly, it just really sets me on edge!

Of course.

I can't be held responsible, however, if your turbo mysteriously accidentally disappears and you find these where it used to be  s:twisted:  s:twisted:
