Morning all
Have been considering a suspension refresh for a while.
Had ruled out BC coilovers as i believed them too be to hard for general use.
The price however makes them too tempting to over look.
Is there anyone in Kent, SE London Essex or Surrey with the 4/6 BC's fitted who would be willing to take me out for a ride?

I've had tein coilovers and the ride was too harsh for the road even on sofer setting.
All would depend on how your gonna drive the 2? Matts brace and tein springs have been my best setup personally.
I have Matts brace and TTE springs.
My original thought was to go for new KYB shocks ( 60k on the clock) new drop links and uprated ARBs.
It's just that some people say coilovers are too hard others say they're ok and i wanted to try for myself.
I'd really like the TRD sportivo kit but the cost is extortionate.
Get the bc's when you dont like them sell them to me and i will put them in the car for track days and i will let you have fun on the track lets be honest bugger all point in having them on the road.

Mine are 3/4 with the big tyres it makes a firm but not breaking your back bouncy, unless you find the common site of a pot hole.

On a serious note Scott, if you did get some and didn't like them you could sell them very easily, if not on here, to a mr2 championship racer. "As new" would sell very quickly!

4/6 springs should be no problem for you. BC are great value for money, decent quality, and BC are really good at customer service with spares readily available

Yes 5/7, if you want to go hardcore. But from the original post it sounded like 4/6 would be more relaxed.
I am going to call them and ask why i can't have 3/5 they make springs like that anyway so what would the technicalities be.
I read elsewhere that perhaps the shocks wouldn't work so well for a softer spring but i know nothing.

The 2 bucket way.... I am not a fan, I use 3 buckets, I find that when cleaning the rag or sponge in the 2nd bucket, sometimes it picks up dirty water into new bucket, so 1st bucket soapy water, 2nd bucket to clean the dirt of the rag, and 3rd bucket to clean the dirty water from the 2nd bucket. I find that is enough buckets to keep the rag clean s:) :) s:)

Just got off the blower to BC and although they do make softer springs none of them are applicable to the zzw30.
So i am back to square one.
Who has coilovers fitted and will take me for a spin?
Have beer vouchers will travel.
Someone at one of the meets or something must have!!
Have now fired off an email to meister r after ayresyboy pointed out that they do softer springs.
So i got a reply from Edwin at meister r and he said they would do softer springs but why do i want them softer and had i been i a roadster with them fitted.
So now i am asking who's got coilovers what type and will you take me for a ride?

Try asking DaveGTST - he bought my old car which had 4/6 rate springs on aPexi N1's - he lives in Stevenage.
That's a bit of a long haul for a south London boy but i will bear it in mind.

Personally I think the 4/6 will be fine.
The thing is springs rate play a role in how the suspension feel.
However, the damper valving is the most important factor in determining how the suspension feel.
And having adjustments don't necessary mean the ride can will be softer, as it depends on how the damper valving react in the first 5% of the initial suspension movement.
This initial movement is something we paid a lot of attention to, and that is why many owners find the MeisterR more compliant than the BC coilovers (speaking subjectively as I don't have data to back this claim up).
Now, the way I see is if you are interested, try the 4/6 first.
You can give us feedback and we can work something out for you.
But we been offering to the ZZW30 community for a while now and none of the customers every told us that the suspension was uncomfortable.
Again, personal opinion, I think the Zeta-R might possibly be more comfortable than the TRD kit.
The reason for that is I know the Japanese manufacturer like to use a very "square" damper valving, and that mean that 5% initial movement is actually quite hard.
They do this to put steering response into a chassis, but the result is a harsh ride on the road especially through long motorway trip.
So give MeisterR a try, and if you are not happy that is why we are here to try and help out. s:) :) s:)

Jesus expensive. The equivalent BCs are £650 (RA)
They're were offering up to 20% discount if we could get a group buy going.
So that would be better.
Has anyone here bought any. I know people love the BC but they could be worth the extra.
Don't forget Mark that my car isn't a stripped out track day toy rather something i can use all the time everywhere.
To be honest you would probably be better off with some really nice Koni FSd dampers or adjustable dampers and TTE or Tien Springs.
I just want you to get BCs so I can get some discount s:D :D s:D
The thing is if i get new dampers new springs and new topmounts it will cost me more than coilovers.
280 for dampers
140 for springs
160 for front topmounts.

Car has done 61k so would rather prempt any issues and replace the lot.

i have BC coilovers with the 4/6 springs running on S2 lotus elise wheels (16 F 17 R) and i find the ride perfect for fast road use, its firm but not ridiculous
All i need is a ride so i can feel for myself and the decision will be made.

I would agree with that. Are the topmounts worn out? I changed struts and springs on a simialar mileage roadster and just repacked the topmount bearings and it was the most sweet handling roadster that I have owned. That had the KYBs and FK springs.

I was assuming that they wouldn't last for ever and that if i had the suspension in pieces it would be a good idea to change.
The car has now done 61k and i thought it would be due new shocks, i find my current TTE springs a bit low and was thinking coilovers would give me the option to play with height. Matts brace catches on speed bumps something awful.
As always i am looking to learn from more experienced members.

I've been doing some reading up about Meister R on other owners clubs Honda/Mazda groups mostly but had a peek at IMOC too.
They seem to be generally well received with a large number of people saying they are less harsh than other coilovers on the road.
Meister R also seem to be members of the owners clubs and engage directly with their customers. Customer service levels seem good.
Discounts and group buys are wide spread.
I am thinking i may give them a go.
Is there no one on this board who has tried any?

To me they seem expensive, i dont think they come with topmount and i haven't come across the springs rates though i haven't looked too hard.

There were some negative comments on some of the other owners groups about BC. Not many tbh. You can't please all the people all of the time.

I'm big on research and not 1 to follow a crowd. In my opinion if i read 10 lots of feed back on bc coilovers and 3 are negative view's with good reason, that's enough for me to walk away. I have read reviews from different manufacturers ect, if you google them you will see not everybody is happy, if you google meister r have only good reviews, not heard 1 bad thing, so imo the little extra is well worth it.
I've got BC's on my race car (which was road legal when I bought it) and IMO the ride was horrible on my journey from Rogue to my work which was around 45miles of motorway, A roads and B roads.. I also find it horrible driving around the paddock area of the tracks
I run Koni adjustables on my mk3 for the road, set soft for every day stuff and adjusted accordingly for blasts out which I find perfect for road use
