To be honest, my list is very similar to yours, with the addition of TTE exhaust (£500), B&M Short Shifter (£110) and my 17" wheels (£370 icluding refinish job).
I estimate my spend at around £1500!   s:shock:  s:shock:
I love it though, so that's all tht counts   s:wink:  s:wink:

Uprated chassis, suspension, brakes, clutch, exhaust system & engine management; turbocharger, water/air intercooler & lightened flywheel; various minor cosmetic changes including 17" alloys. However, much like a lady's age, one does not ask the price, one merely enjoys it's presence..

I win! Do I get a prize?

warning to others: it's a slippery slope, you don't start out intending to do these things, they just sort of happen..

Here's what I've got, in the order I got them...

I think that's all I've spend on the car so far, excluding tyres and servicing (and petrol) of course!...

Well at least he works hard to earn all that cash he spends on his car...  hold on... wait a minute... what am I saying?!

Talking about how little spent, I thought a set of four Toyo Proxes T1-S for under £200, fitted, was pretty good.

No idea what you have, here's what we have:
- registration fee, 300 euro
- annual usage tax, 120 euro
- annual inspection fee, 30-40 euro

Not that much really. Of course the insurances come on top of those and that would be about 2700 euro/year (depends a lot from your age and hometown and everything though).

Not to mention the expensive fuel...Denmark had the most expensive fuel (on average during last month) and we came 2nd in Europe  s:? :? s:?

Have you tried AXA?  £850 with just 1NCB and an accident in my previous car 2 years ago.  Although my premium will rise close to 2k (I hope) since I managed to lose control of the MR2 scratching pretty much all body panels as I ended up in a field taking a fence with me.  Everything was replaced with new items and the whole car was resprayed; I guess the bill must have come to £5000...

Tem,
Cars in Israel have 100% import tax, my car cost me a bit over $42,000
I pay $568 (us dollars) for annual renewal of car license
+ inspection fees about $75
My insurance is just over $2000 a year

And I pay $1.25 us dollars for ONE liter of gas

(can you say arabian oil boycott   s:wink:  s:wink:  )
Title:
Post by: Humble Jim on August 19, 2003, 09:54
It's a bizarre world. The UK has got big oil fields that produce high quality crude (i.e. low wax content) in abundance.  In the oil scarce US you pay about one USdollar fifty per gallon for petrol.

We 'lucky' UK citizens pay about one USdollar a liter for petrol (without any embargo!). Compare this with oil free New Zealand whose citizens pay about 60 UScents per liter. It's all to do with tax take of course - that versus how much the population will stand being fleeced. The UK is a world leader in this specific area   s:lol:  s:lol: .

When our oil runs out they'll build huge wind farms in the North Sea (that process has actually begun), and then 'wind tax' will be invented etc. etc...
Title:
Post by: Tem on August 19, 2003, 11:43
Yeah, weird taxes indeed...our gas tax is around 0.75e/l (yeah, fixed value, not %). So even if we got free gas from refinery, we have to pay 0.75e/l for it. It wouldn't really matter how much it is, cause most just have to pay for it. We really don't have a working public transportation outside the capital...it would take about 2 hours for me to get to work by bus (don't have subways or anything in here) and about 30 minutes by bicycle (and some 5-10mins by car).
