Title: Glubux-mobile : Red Turbo PFL
Post by: Glubux on January 22, 2016, 13:17
As requested by Jrichards20, I'm starting a topic with pictures and description about my car:
It's a 2000 car, 200 000km, running its second engine (thanks Mr Sloan) and second gearbox, and it's been turbocharged for more than a year now, without a single CEL (I'm proud of that   s:lol:  s:lol:  )

It is pretty standard outside, except the badge, the 16" Miata wheels, the modified LED Headlights, the exhaust's exit, a 30mm lowering and FL tailights.

The Led Low beam :

Inside the most noticeable are the S2000 seats that fit really well in the roadster!

More discrete but nice under your hands, the steering wheel also comes from a S2000, I managed to fit the Toyota airbag in it an keep the horn, it's a bit smaller than the oem and more confortable in my opinion.

Some dials too keep an eye on the engine

The new dials with the gloss black surrounding

Another usefull thing, an automatic rear view mirror with outside temp display :

And the most important part, the engine :

Stock internals, Subaru TD04 turbo, water to air intercooler, 376 cc injectors, E-manage blue, 7 psi, 200 hp and 24 m/kg

I guess there are some other gadgets that could be mentioned, like MWR's cruise control, comfort turn signal, a TRD shift knob, a home made short shifter, EBC yellow brake pads...

Without Scott coming round and hitting me over the head. I think the mx5 wheels look really good!   s:o :o s:o

Car does look very very nice. Have you had a repsray? The paint looks in excellent condition.

It looks nice only on picture   s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:   Some parts have been resprayed by the previous owner, the hard top comes from another car... You can count at least 4 different reds   s:lol:  s:lol:

But thanks anyway    s:wink:  s:wink:

Haha ok! What is the size of the steering wheel? It looks very good and a great alternative to the aftermarket ones. how easy was it to fit? I take it by keeping the airbag it just connects easily back on.

Also car looks to over steer very easily for only lowering springs, aggressive geo?  s:) :) s:)

As far as I remember the steering wheel is nearly 15 mm smaller, it is not easy to fit the Toyota airbag, it's a lot of work to fit it properly.

About the over-steering, it is mostly because of the aggressive driving !  s:lol:  s:lol:

Nice looking car, nice to see all your personal mods too.

I had never heard of door stabilizers either, the big question though is could you tell the difference when you fitted them?

There is no big difference, some even say it is more a placebo than anything else (especially on non convertible cars, like a gt86), however on a convertible it helps to reduce the door rattling when you drive top down on bumpy roads,I noticed a difference in that way.

Perhaps a blind Road test is needed.

This looks a little strange? Why does the torque and hp curve not cross at 5252?

Can we have more pics of the engine bay and some info on the turbo conversion?
