Hi all not been on here for ages I did the banana car thread. Still have it but is the daily driver I was going to put in a kswap. But it is to nice to use and so I got this red car and plan to make this a light weight set up. With a k24.
Roof out and started wire tuck.
So finally made a start on this project if you have seen my banana car build which I have now sold to build my dream mr2 this will be similar but with full engine swap and full engine bay paint job and frunk and also full suspension over haul

Good to see you at it again
This car is way better than the 03 I had it come apart easy. The only part that is bad no surprise the abs bracket. Can someone confirm that Yaris wishbones fit ? And my they scimp on the paint in the engine bay and frunk no bother upol raptor liner will sort that it's the best just like deox c amazing stuff
Been getting on lots of parts being dipped cleaned painted and also engine bay and frunk coming along. Still not ready for paint but not far off now. The wife been helping with the engine lots. Been fun so far.
Looks like you are making very good progress there!
(There was a thread recently about the yaris wishbones. They fit but some people have had some failures).

I have heard to on the wishbones that so will be going whiteline and super pro now I did on my banana car build. Also.
Lookng forward to when you start the engine conversion...

It's already been in the car as did test fit and stuff fits fine pictures above show it fits snug
8) Painted engine bay with a rattle can that I found in the car did ok but will use as a primer until my base arrives and then use my 2k clear
Last time when I did the banana car build I sent a lot to powder coat but this time I got new compressor and spray gun and all the gear and with my spare time been learning to paint. Now I have been painting leather for over 20 years so was not to bad and will save a fortune. Spoke to Paul at tcb as I have gave him a very big list lol. As for the cost I think I will post wha5 I have spent so far. It is not a lot as you will see. And deox c is the nutz. Getting paint has held me up a bit but still many parts to recondition and the hammerite is the nutz to
8) bit of painting today destroyer grey is the chosen colour and it looks mint 9FAC23F9-2DF7-481B-ADD0-CD2B7B265746.jpeg91B95C8C-62DF-48CC-820F-4CC55D969853.jpeg63209B94-4B84-4AD4-8A02-0C00DC621A86.jpeg
Got Calipers to do also will look so good roll bars be done this colour also
My first go with clear coat in a proper spray gun I learnt a lot now let's get the car painted and ready to get the engine in

Just got me a 50l compressor and a vouche gun but it's more about the process. It's time consuming and well worth it. Base and clear is so much better , but lots to learn about prep mixing and how to use the gun
So at last the main dealers are open so finally got the last few engine parts just a delivery from Tegiwa then she is complete.
:o 2k clear arrived and I have finally painted the engine bay and frunk. Don't worry not missed a lot as upol raptor will be used on the other parts.
Need gearbox built and clutch and the k can go in yes !
More prep and paint , gona get a big brake kit so no need to prep the fronts, more prep on the body over the weekend and then raptor time
For a car that has no rust (20 years old ) more protection upol raptor liner applied it takes a lot of prep !
Gearbox dropped off to have longer final and LSD put in,
Seriously wish I could do this.
Maybe I just need to get a cheap runabout and just tear the car apart and do it

The next post might make you buy a daily lol
???
Finally I have put something on the car a absolute mile stone, break in the weather and it's all painted. Next up get the broken dishwasher out the garage (very long story! )
Then it's all about parts and getting them on the car
Oh. My..
Oh my my...
That is very very tasty.
*opens autotrader, slides max price to 500*
Gearbox done lsd with 4.388 final so nice to cruise jay kay found on Facebook is king of all things k series go see him if you want K gearbox stuff
Tcb parts finalised
Going to make a effort to get everything in over next few weeks all Parts ready for assembly and Then have some time off to assemble I really want this running now
Not much to report just putting more back on the car brake lines etc
Gearbox painted and new oil seal in Jap service parts are amazing worth a look great service and delivery.
I have sold all the turbo stuff after a good run in my friends k swap it is for sure gona be fast enough with bolt ons I will have 220hp , this also means the build will cost a lot less
Light weight flywheel being resurfaced also just got to keep at it engine in is the goal
What is the cost of this? My goal here is to show that these cars are easy to work on and if you have some skill this is all possible I will update a page on the next thread as and when I get something but for now this is from memory and my eBay account lol
As for the budget there is not one to be honest I was going to turbo but after a trip in a mates k20 swap it is plenty fast enough and I love na sounds and reduces cost a lot and speeds up the build. This is not just a engine swap but a full build as you can see so let's all see how much I can do this for
I had a stunning yellow car see banana car build on here she was stunning but could not justify 2 mr2's So the idea was to sell it to fund the below. And while I had the yellow I did not do much on the red car as you can see from when this started lol
This is all down to Andy a good friend who used to own bonsai cars as he had a accord come up and the rest is history. Sometimes it is down to right place right time
The car pfl red mr2 from local garage they called and said customer wanted to sell as failed mot and Knocking engine £150 yes you heard right 66k and in really good condition just not looked after mechanically or kept clean.
Then the real deal a 03 accord type s k24a3 power £400 i then broke the car and made profit so let's just say on this it broke even easy, the sat nav for example was sold for £250 alone.
Then another mr2 someone wanted rid off paid 450 with a hard top. Sold the car Cheap and had the hardtop so it cost 150 for top and fitting kit.
So for £300 I have have a solid start and with what I sold the yellow for I am in good shape.
I will put it in sections the costs suspension engine etc and who supplied
this was the donor car DSC_0409.JPG
some engine stuff i did in early lock down
K20 oil pump will rev better and way lighter than the balanced shaft one i took out
sump baffle
Vapour blasting
and a OEM gaskets has to be OEM with honda ! pay the extra always
It's such a tall block isn't it?
Quote from: shnazzle on June 23, 2020, 13:16It's such a tall block isn't it?
It is 19mm taller than a k20 but all ally so not that much different in weight and no roof will be better than stock

I got a upright one far better for storage it was off eBay it is a auto jack air50
Found my dream wheels on eBay always wanted them but they are so so expensive but these where a deal with tyres well pleased. Long drive but so worth it
Just need those centre caps reading Toyonda!
@justinread72 I used Toyonda on

Project TOYONDA K20 Fast Road&Track
Started by Dasilva, October 12, 2014, 18:49
Fly wheel machined drive shafts sorted new clutch arrived all good !
Mock up the ac and power steering delete kit as it gives more clearance k tuned.
Swiftco came through with epic powerder Coating
The rain has gone so back putting things on ! Have you ever spent a day working and it does not look like you done much but that said feel progress being made.
You all know how bad the handbrakes are so I have got a Prius foot brake it has
CEC23EF3-CE28-478C-9B33-8C475AD4BBA9.jpeg
a lot more adjustment and it is a foot brake so I can loose the hand brake and make a kick bumbum interior.
Wire tucked the engine bay so used the brackets from there and mounted fuse boxes in side and is in works so it will look awesome
Lots Goodness from paul at TCB cannot recommend him enough.
Super pro best bushes out there fact
Some OEM and Defoe needed a steering UJ it was a mess! And the usual suspension bits
Radiator mounts these Paul said common to fail mine shoot to bits
Had this sitting in the loft fo like 2 years so though it better go on lol
As the engine is bigger thought it will help but never had any issues with over heating and I am sure the stock ones are fine but mine was shot to bits
So brake Calipers in works paint on the way and big part on its way a ep3 ecu for a great price
Hope to get engine in next weekend that is the plan
Calipers came out great
Just one change I got a k tuned alternator relocate kit as thought it would help in space as it sets it low down. Anyway due to the way the bulk head juts out at the bottom it don't fit so it's back to stock but the alternator has been rebuilt so should be ok and I should make money on it as got it cheap so money for the coilovers it will be which is now the biggest ticket item left. I have to say really not much left to get especially engine wise. Hope to get the car in the garage this week due to lots of rain I want the engine in ASAP
Been quiet life things but car is now in focus again
Clutch on and gearbox next then in she goes need just a few bits swap loom and immobiliser delete and she will start. Once done then all the suspension on need coilovers but decided on the miester ones.
Rebuilding the Calipers just one left and that's done next week fit all the super pro to bits
Is anyone interested in the build just that not much from you all ? If not will stop posting

Am watching with interest Justin!
And me Justin! Don't forget me, I enjoy reading people's posts.
So close now can't wait to get the engine in.
Presume you've replaced all you reasonably can whilst the engine is out?
Quote from: Alex Knight on September 5, 2020, 14:33Presume you've replaced all you reasonably can whilst the engine is out?
Yes Alex on the tread is a parts list so far. It has had a full overhaul and has a type s oil pump 50 degree vtc gear so future proof.
Wiring ! Ran out of tape fml so I am held up
That said I fitted all the super pro bushes and finished the caliper builds.
So I had to go to Romania for work for 2 weeks and now I have to do 14 days at home so will be cracking On and after my two weeks quarantine the plan is to to have a week off work and get the beast running!
Wiring tape arrived so finished than. Engine in this week or I will be disappointed
Once it's rolling I have some paint work to do on my type s civic. Want to give ruby some love also. Want to replicate the pic below
8) all on my own but it's in ! Is this the first k24 in the uk ? If not let me know
I am under no illusion that was the easy bit ! Now got to work through all the systems and get her running then and only then will I build up the suspension as if she don't run then a huge rethink
Could be mate seen the k20 done but not the 24.
Well done.
So some new parts on the market Mitch auto parts mounts look great and way better than the innovative rubbish. I had made my own and they are ok but these are tried and tested
For reference these two mounts and the gearbox mount he sells I did not need will swap a k20. For k24 you need a different top mount it's from monkey wrench but only £30
I have also put my name down for drive shafts from Mitches also. Brandon is great he done many swaps. Trust me he is the go to for parts

love the effort of your work and your post on here are brillent ;D ;D
Just wished you had put the the yellow 1 up for sale here :( :(
8)
Coilovers in Tegiwa had some in stock or most is 12 week wait.! And hel brake lines gona be a busy week !
Also fitted all the new ball joints rear wheel bearings and whiteline bushes to wish bones.

Going the same k24 route as you are, looking forward to updates

Good on you well I can give you a lot of advice so you don't make the same mistake I did.
What engine have you got ? What gearbox ?
So a week off work cracking on with suspension and engine mounts and looking also at plumbing it and fuel lines
Wiring loom on the way and immobiliser delete
Brake lines coilovers track rod ends lots of new parts. Images tomorrow as it got dark
Now anyone doing a kswap you must use the Mitch auto parts mounts period they are buy far the best fitting and use all the Toyota mounts to looks very stock and also uses a fourth mount unlike innovative rubbish
Nice work Justin. Keep it up!
So I have raised the shifter and I hate the handbrake on these cars and the centre console the handbrake never works well on the three I have owned so for a while I been wanting to do something and here is my relocated handbrake now foot brake ! It's Toyota so the light switch is the same and this has so much more adjustments so I hope it works.it's of a Toyota Prius
I never liked the gear shift position always to low.
Well happy with how it's turned out. And thanks lockdown where are my brake pads as now I am stuck. But will start on wiring. Coolant lines and clutch line is done
No more "handbrake turns" for you then Justin!
Not sure if I am more impressed by the work you have done on the car or the purchasing of the donor cars!
Keep up the good work as I am really looking forward to seeing the end result.
So a good day !
Front suspension and brakes built up and rears just need to connect hand/foot brake, coolant lines nearly done, idiots sent wrong parts. Clutch line done
Fuel line done. Shifter tomorrow, fitted wheel to see how it may look and it's a beast !
Enjoy the images all 2BFB3AC1-57A0-4AFE-8DFB-7FA7FE55C63A.jpeg
Great work Justin, all topped off with a Lotus centre cap, very nice. ;)
Waiting for electrical stuff the post is slow !
Airbox is mounted and the ducted goes straight into the side vent perfect

Ok so today the starter solenoid fired for the first time ! 8)
Anyone doing a k swap in any car use this harness and in my opinion is better than any specific roadster/spyder k swap harness this was £150 and with immobiliser delete came to £240 also that was next day deliver from Cyprus.
The instructions are good and you get to have engine light oil and alternator lights !
2FCAF23B-F031-4B8C-A054-2C687E63116E.jpeg
I am taking my time on this and learning a lot.
Fingers crossed soon she will fire up !
Also see the badge I am having. As you all know in Japan it's a mr-s well my engine is from and accord type s so you can see how I come up with this and I love it
C48B800F-698F-47AE-8AC4-C55EE6EB100E.jpeg

Justin, this is a properly tidy job.
Fantastic that you've done it all on your own, in a small(ish) garage. Great work that man.
Started on the clocks. Deleting temp sensor and lights that will no longer be needed and placement of the gauges think it looks ok A80A0A0C-2A95-4138-AC69-717EFE7F4111.jpeg
It's a brilliant build Justin. Really impressive and I can't believe how little you've managed to do it for.
As you said earlier, right place right time but k20s are usually known to hit the 9-10k mark and your nowhere near.
Love how you're not just doing the engine. Full car overhaul. It looks fantastic. It'll be a beauty

Thanks you for your kind words.
Just the immobiliser delete to do but it is now wired all gauges and wiring lights also done. Learnt so much doing the wiring relays soldering and routing enjoyed it and my main aim is to make it nice and tidy also. It will be awesome
And centre console also started I will make a fibre glass shell and trim it as that's my trade.
Anyone have any experience using rouge seat mounts ?
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the centre console.
With no handbrake there, you have quite a bit of space under the console.
So first attempt to start she cranked over and got good oil pressure but have issue with the immobiliser delete long day so will try again in the week
So close !

some small things to do
Wire up rear number plate lights done, abs wires extended and most of all built the console
wired in and fitted the warning lights removed the clock as it's pointless and got some abs carbon plastic and made them fit nice and looks stock.
and the oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge this will have the same carbon effect as the warning lights.
This is awesome, I'm currently doing a k20 swap so its great to see some good quality pictures.

Not posted for a while been busy waiting on stuff seats mainly seats due to lock down but now sorted really wanted to try before I buy. Also got some planted seat mounts and some sparco seats I love them as I am a odd shape wide in the back big legs and as much as I love those buckets I don't fit these are amazing seats well pleased and keep with the Honda theme
List below of all little things I had to do
Clutch and brakes fluids done
Air box done will run it see how it's goes
Re located window switches
Finished off warning lights and centre console
Drive shafts all done local engineering did a great job will see how they go. He makes shafts for motorsport teams and he is like 1 mile from me ! He said break them if you can
Custome dial kit on the way more on them when they arrive
What's left is really the exhaust !
And carbon wrap a few things
Hope that this year we can have a get together!
I could be interested in driveshafts.
My V6 killed one in 2019 and haven't done enough miles since to see how its holding up.
Were they expensive?
Any idea how much torque they could take?
Congratulations on the progress.
Clever idea on the window switch relocation. Do they fit straight in or do you have to modify anything?
Did you need to extend the wiring or can you just take them out of where they are in the loom to get them to reach the dash?
This would make a complete custom centre console much more do-able if you dont have to try to integrate the switch holders into it so I am interested!

Loom is fine just a small bit of trimming on the panel but not much with a file and held in with a hot melt gun.

Great work 👍 I'm just down the road near Yeovil and am k swapping an MR2 also. Can I ask what you supplied for the driveshafts (I assume just MR2 and Type R shafts) and if you asked for any specific measurements?
Wow somw serious work went into this one. Following!
Great work and really interested in the mix of parts you've used? Obviously Accord Type-S engine but is it an EP3 gearbox? Engine mounts the upper gearbox bracket from MWR and stock Toyota chassis side, similar for the engine (drivers) side? FN2 manifold fits over the subframe? Also good to know about the driveshafts that can be sleeved easily as these are another, normally expensive, requirement for the swap!

Quote from: iower on June 8, 2021, 12:50Great work and really interested in the mix of parts you've used? Obviously Accord Type-S engine but is it an EP3 gearbox? Engine mounts the upper gearbox bracket from MWR and stock Toyota chassis side, similar for the engine (drivers) side? FN2 manifold fits over the subframe? Also good to know about the driveshafts that can be sleeved easily as these are another, normally expensive, requirement for the swap!
its a ep3 box with a accord final and has a dc5 LSD
engine mounts are MAP you use all the stock mounts MRW upper for the k24 . anyone doing this dont buy innovate mounts they a Sh*!
Fn2 manifold needs cutting off and angled up an i used a stainless flange of ebay £30
drive shaft i will be testing let everyone know the feed back
quick update

@justinread72 I've re read your thread and confirmed my opinion of a job well done, thank you for sharing.
I note that you used Superpro bushes , did you manage to remove the old and refit the new without a press?
With your caliper refurb did you use after market or OE seals?
