Hi folks
Wondered this a few times and hoping one of you who bought a Corolla/Celica 2zz to do a swap might know. Do the larger discs and caliper of the T-Sport (GT) models fit the mr2? I'm basing this on the understanding that the T-Sport (GT) has bigger brakes, I believe it does. Seems like a quick upgrade in stopping power that is a bolt on and quite affordable too.
Cheers
Not 100% sure but I tried looking into this a while back. The center bore and stuff is all the same, so I would expect the discs and calipers to be a straight fit. The brake shield/blacking plate would need to be modified and the edges taken off though as they would be too small and rubbing against the disc, unless using the celica ones as well. Also would probably need 17" wheels for clearance.
Also if you wanted to go even better, the Avensis D4D brakes are a major upgrade on Celica Tsports. That could be something for you to look into as well.
Celica is 5 x 100 PCD, so that's a no.
Corolla is 4 x 100 with hub hole dia 55mm, same as the '2. Discs are 255 x 20 vs 275 x 25 & pistons 51 vs 57mm. The larger diameter would mean 16" wheel minimum.
So it all boils down to how/if the caliper will bolt up to the '2 hub assembly & whether it needs spacing or offsetting so that it lines up with the disc properly.
Interesting idea.
I know freaky parts used a wilwood caliper but did they modify a Toyota disc? Not sure.
Tbh breaks are the very last thing that need to be modified on these cars even on track.
Oh forgot to mention in my earlier post but like most cars with upgraded brakes... either get celica hubs if they fit, otherwise custom drilled discs or use adapters.
There's no need mate, Corolla discs are exactly the same size as the Celica ;)
They're also 5stud though.
Sorry, bit confused by cross talk.
Has to be Corolla discs for 4x100 stud pattern.
Unclear if caliper mounts and aligns correctly.
Anybody got a breaker in for a swap and can try this out please?
PS, Corolla has 16" wheels so no need for 17s. No idea about avensis calipers but if they fit Corolla and the Corolla fits the 2 then bigger bonus.
PPS, I like strong brakes not requiring Hulk's right foot in emergencies etc, abs will do the rest.
Thanks for the info so far.
This wont fit, the mounting holes for the calipper is different...
I have tried since the norwegian DVLA wanted me too use brakes from a 2zz car to get mine registered.
Thanks for confirming.
