Thank you, i did check around the hole, didnt appear to be one there. I have been doing my own (and others) oil changes for 40 years, not exactly inexperienced..

A 1/4 BSP Doughty is perfect.
Havent any of those, will get some in, it was stuck on the sump, once it had stopped draining and i could remove the washing up bowl i use, and could get to it properly, i could prise it of.. EDIT ordered 10, only £3.25 should keep me going for a while..

Nope. Never happened to me. Nope.
I noticed this on the www recently, although, like the sump plug washer
- no one has ever left the old one on- and doubled up on the washer,
a similar thing can apparantly happen to the oil filter.
-the old washer sticks to the housing-
and you inadvertantly double up with the new washer.
I understand that it really doen't work twice as well!

I'd like to think that, like me, the washing up bowl that 105e uses is a long term borrow/ acquisition / stolen from the kitchen and doesn't double up for dish washing duties any more, well not unless it's had a good wipe round!

I'd like to think that, like me, the washing up bowl that 105e uses is a long term borrow/ acquisition / stolen from the kitchen and doesn't double up for dish washing duties any more, well not unless it's had a good wipe round!
To be fair at £3.25 for 10 washing up bowls I'd be classing them as disposable items, I pay a pound for 1 bowl at my local Poundstretcher. (Other discount shops are available).

You may have read of references to Redex on here, particular from those old enough to remember these, they were on most petrol station forecourts when the motorist was served with petrol, the attendant would give you a "Shot" for 1d / 1 penny, ( an old one)

Credit where due, often spoken of in less than favorable terms is Mr T your local Toyota dealer and service/ repair shop.
I made my annual visit/ pilgrimage ti my local Mr T to buy a sump plug waher and saw the same guy I have seen since I had my 2.
We had a pleasant chat as usual and he gave me the washer gratis, for free, no charge!
It's great when that happens. Many years ago I was having speedo problems on a Corolla Coupe, the issue was oil tracking up the speedo feed cable. At the dealer the parts guy got out a cable replacement kit and started looking in the bag. He said "you need a new one of those felt washers in the kit but we don't sell them separately". He then ripped open the bag and gave ithe washer to me!
