Got the seats out my 04 red edition to adjust the handbrake, found there was electrical connections to both seats, is this standard an does it mean I can connect them up somehow by adding the appropriate switch, or is there more to it

That will be for the sensors to tell the seat belt warning system there is someone in the seat
