Toyota _ MR2 _ ROADSTER
Are badged on the back of the car. If I wanted to delete some of them does anyone know how they are held on ? And which if any have pins and Holes behind them ? Not keen enough to fill and paint Holes tia
Stuck on with foam pads.
Fishing line or dental floss is a popular method for removing.
Will require some elbow grease to polish once removed.
Did see a black one recently that was fully de-badged. Even though I'm familiar with 2's it took me while to work out what was missing. Have considered myself. I liked it.
For what is a comparatively rare sight on the roads. It does add to mystery.
All the rear badges are stuck on as standard so unless any previous owners have fitted anything non standard you're good to remove them.
Just bear in mind you might end up with a ghost of the badge on the paintwork as the paint behind the badge won't have been faded by the sun etc.
Put a bit of heat to them to soften the adhesive and then "saw" them off with some thin thread or strong fishing line.
I think it looks nice with just MR2

Agreed,I am playing around with a spare bumper I have and will only put the MR2 emblem back on
Rob
Roadster or mr-s is a far better logo IMO
Midship runabout is about as wrong as you can get IMO
I love the car, but the badging falls very short.
I quite like this one.
MR S badge front..jpg
Much better 👍
De badedged rear and JDM front on my 2s.
Hot water to soften the adhesive and away with the dental floss.
Bit of a polish after to loose the ghosting.
So pretty much as everyone else has said.
Prepare for the hey mate what is it questions or nice porshce comments.
Haha I wish !

Once all toyota badging is removed hardly anybody knows what it is.
Throw an obscure JDM badge into the mix and they are totally confused.

I had the Porsche comment from a neighbour when I first had my 2, he only saw it in profile.
The view from the drivers seat isn't hugely different, two humps for the wings and the bonnet dipping away in the middle.
Sticking to the ´OEM is best´ adage (for once) ;D
Did ádd a badge referring to the SMT though O:-)
HOLD THE PHONE!!
You haven't removed the badges?
Some easy grammage there.

You could be try to be different.
I say try, this has already been done.

Have they been engined swapped?
Or are the owners badge snobs.
Possibly just for giggles?

Lazy answer: We shall never know
Real answer: It's out there. There are no secrets on the web.
I'm surprised you didn't ask me why I had those randomly saved to my gallery.
The question is also the answer.

Does anyone know what body kit this is from?

I do not like the bottom half but the top half with deleting the opening and the slope looks very nice.
I am definitely in the de-badging/obscure replacement camp!

That's a dirty rear end you have there Simon!
Thats good, honest road dirt there, Jane!
We were mid tour and there was a biblical downpour that night so it was probably clean the next day...
Generally I like debadging the model and engine badges but leaving the logo, because it feels like taking of the brand badge is just trying going out your way to hide what you are driving - but I bought my Mr2 completely debadged at the rear and I think it looks great and much cleaner - with the number plate off at the moment it looks even better.
I'm a big fan of European white number plates - yellow adds another colour going on.
Tinted the rear lights a couple of shades darker so its more modern but to the unsuspecting eye could still be OEM (using the corsa belonging to the older lady next door as a benchmark)
Exhausts aren't finished - need raising and don't have tips yet.

Do like the de-badge look. Just not sure I could commit to it. Half tempted to get a second rear bumper, de badge that and swap the over, knowing I could go back if it turned out a step too far.
Mine was already debadged and have to say I like it so have never put them back on.

A second rear bumper would take up almost as much garage space as a hard top!
Just prefer the JDM badges both the yellow and silver had all toyota badges removed.
How about this one for the yellow beastie?

I've got some V6 badges here somewhere too that
@stewart@boro kindly gave me but I do like it to look reasonably standard.
I'm in 2 minds.

Agreed.
It looks nice and clean but... I think it cool that it is
´just a Toyota.´
Been looking again. And thinking. Removing any 2 leaving the third.
That said. Out of those options, just toyota or just roadster, would look better than just mr2.

Quite the opposite when asked what it is most are amazed when you tell them it's a 17 year old Toyota

Which explains why I prefer proudly advertise it on the outside.
I removed all the badges many years ago now, but recently I added one back:

It's very safe and easy to debadge if you do it in two parts:
ONE: Hot water/ hair dryer and some dental floss.... soften the glue with the heat and then floss the WHOLE BADGE off before you pull it away, otherwise you'll pull chunks out the paint.... it is very easy and low risk if you just take your time.
Do NOT be tempted to try to warm it up and peel it away in one go as this is how you'll damage the paint.
TWO: use something that will break down and remove the glue and is safe on paint, I'm pretty sure something like Sticky Stuff Remover would do it, but safer to stick to the one designed for cars: Autoglym Tar Remover does a great job. Just wipe the glue, wait 2 mins, see what peels off, then repeat.
There will be a residual "shadow" of the old label, but something like T-Cut or a decent polish sorts it out pretty quickly.

Adboslutely! I completely de-badged my old one and it just made it look a bit too aftermarket... I was considering a screaming chicken "M" or something like that.... but hadn't ordered aything yet, so as a first step I just took off the Roadster + Toyota.... and left the "MR2" and I am quite fond of it now.

LOL @ "HONDA".... definitely need a K20 for that one.... although I's still suggest "TOYONDA"
Easy de badge, lots of hot water n take your time gently pulling off bit by bit but take it steady. Easy job. You can cut them off with fishy ng line or similar but not necessary at all. More hot water to remove foam and gum and the rest will come off with some paste, on a sponge pad on the drill but by hand is ok. My only regret is that some twat underscored the MR2 badge so a line is visible and will never polish out. But hey ho. Bigger things in life.
