Title: LiL Red
Post by: Halls on March 23, 2021, 15:18
Bought my first MR2 a couple of months ago as a way of easing lockdown blues. Planned on just keeping it a year to enjoy the summer. That was until i drove it and fell in love with it! Now its not going anywhere. Its a 2003 chilli red with 70k on the clock.

So far I've put a pair of excellent condition black leather seats in (pre face lift ones as i prefer the look of them).

Trimmed the armrests in red leather to match the outside to give it a splash of colour.
Put in a new centre arm rest trimmed in red leather.
Purchased an excellent condition red hardtop that looks brand new.
Had a local dent shop remove the odd dent (ended up taking 30 out, he said he loved working on it) great guy and would highly recommend. Dent dynamics in Barnsley.

Next item is a new soft top. Planning on taking it down to the Swansea guys.

Love driving the car and so far only seen 2 others since owning it,which is both good and bad. Both other drivers gave me a flash and a wave. Friendly bunch you lot. :)

Hopefully you are taking as good care of the engine and suspension as you are of the looks.

Enjoy.

Polishing the engine is on the list, or is that not what you meant? ;)

It does make a lot of difference comfort wise. Plus it looks good too.

@Halls

Great looking car. Is the side view photo in the first post taken a couple of miles west of Castleton in Derbyshire? Only been there once, 3 or 4 years ago, but the steep sided valley in the background looks really familiar.

Put me out of my misery / confusion.

@JohnGee thanks, yes its in Castleton at the bottom of Winnats Pass. Great little stretch of road as it winds up the climb.

Wow, surprised myself there.

I was there in my pre MR2 days, we went on the occasion when they had a wonderful, one off, light display in the evening in that very valley. They closed the road, filled the valley with dry ice and then had lasers firing blue waves overhead as the public walked up and down the closed road. Very atmospheric, unique, very busy. A great evening. 👍
