interesting issue today, my key would not unlock the car. Lock button worked but nothing from the unlock button. I opened the car with the key in the door lock and, of course, the alarm went off. With only a lock button to use, I stopped the alarm by locking the car. One issue with that was that set off the motion detection with me in the car so more siren!
I managed to get home by locking the car, pressing 3 times lock to disable the motion detection. Once home my other key unlocked the car successfully, although I did go through the siren pantomime getting out of the car on the driveway.
I will try to work out what is wrong with the key at the weekend. In the meantime I have a question:
Which fuse would remove power to the alarm? And without power does it die or is there a battery backup?
Hi. Tbh mate, the question of disabling alarms is a very touchy subject and not really for open forum discussion as you will understand. Iv been here before with a different car at least and it involved linking out parts of the ecu. I'm not saying this is true in this case but I was lucky in that a member pm,d me to tell me what to do. The case is also true when " iv locked my keys in" questions pop up and some bright spark tells the world how to break in safely. Take it to a garage. Good luck.
Unplug the siren in the frunk.
Turned out to be a fault with the buttons on the key fob, so that can be another job on the "to-do" list. In the meantime I will use the other key.
Taking into account the replies, can the MODS lock this as I now do not need to know the answer!!
Now locked ;D
