Title: Leather seats
Post by: tomato on August 8, 2021, 21:34
Evening,

Any idea of the cost of getting a set of half decent leather seats to replace cloth ones please.

Working through some numbers and options  :)

Thanks

Usually around 120-150 depending on style and condition, fairly inexpensive in the general scheme of things.
It'll be harder the other way to be honest, not many sets of decent fabric ones coming up for sale.

I wonder what the cost would be to have someone trim them in factory quality leather

Assuming you find them comfortable....I don't.  Plenty people change them (differing reasons, no doubt?
Celica seats fit using the 2's runners, & others have fitted Honda (bit more work).  Some believe the the Celica uses a better leather.

You may recall there was an affiliate on here at one time that did some nice leather work for some members, perhaps not enough work as I've not seen mention of him for some time.

I spoke to Kamil at Hatton and he will recover your seats in top quality leather for £500 each. His quality of work is excellent.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings reg. the leather seats. When I was looking for my 2, it was clear to me, that it should have leather seats, mainly for looks and feel. Now I have them.
The downside is that although the leather is perforated, there is a lot of sweating going on, especially after longer drives. I am not sure if I would choose them any more.
Maybe sth. to think about before spending the money.

Keep an eye on the for sale board as I have a set I'll be putting on when I'm back in UK. Probably a couple of weeks time

I paid about 600 to have my seats, gear gaiter, steering wheel and door card leathers done in proper leather.
Workmanship is top notch as (hopefully) others can confirm.

Had mine done by Simon at Hide'n'Seat.  For the more northern folk.

He did say the FL seats are a pain in the bumbum to do compared to PFL so he said he'd charge more next time for FL :)

I would definitely opt for alcántara centers if I had to redo it. Stops sliding.

That sounds a good price.

Something i keep thinking about.
Keywords. Proper leather.

Just the seats for me.

You'd have to check my Reader's Ride. It was a good while ago.

@shnazzle
Thank you.

4 years ago. Probably 600 for the gaiter alone now. ;)

J-spec in Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland, have loads of seats available both Celica and 2 seats. Don't know if Andrew is on here though. He is often up and down the country delivering parts and picking up breakers.

We have Celica seats (Gen 7) in Oldie as someone had tried to refurbish her seats and they were horrible so I wanted rid asap. We actually managed to get both leather and cloth foc from different people. We may try and get a set of pfl again for Oldie later on as having had both, I hate how the wind hits your neck with roof down in both the fl and Celica seats and when colder, I shove a scarf or woolly hat in the wee space. As regards Alcantara, of course we have it in Newbie as a TF300 but would never choose it now as it "bobbles" like a wooly jumper :(
