I've a few parts need sprucing up and the first thought which came to mind when considering techniques/methods to employ in this endeavour was powdercoating.
In particular I'm looking at powdercoating some TTE springs and a TRD front strut brace.
Am I right In thinking powdercoating would be a better finish than paint for the springs? I've heard paint will just crack and flake off the springs but powdercoating is more "pliable" for want of a better term.
Been quoted £80 for the springs and £100 for the strut brace.
Is this a fair price?

I could get that brace done for less than £20.. £80 for four springs is better, but no bargain. Shop around a bit, there are quite a few powder coaters out there.
I'm also not sure that powder coating is more pliable.

This is definitely the way forward. I'm not messing about with a wirebrush and hammerite, need a job done properly.
What's the opinion on using DeoxC on to remove corrosion then painting with zinc primer and hammerite? Is it any worse/better than shotblast and powdercoat?

Powder coating is electrostatically bonded to the metal Hammerite is after all a brush applied paint so nowhere near the same adhesion / longevity
All of my suspension arms and various other components have been sand blasted and powder coated.
If your car is a keeper, this is a no-brainier.
The £80 for springs and £100 quoted for strut brace to be powder coated is excessive I believe.
I suggest that the quality of preparation for powder coating is typically better than for wet painting. But, if the components were prepared by medium blasting, as is typical it's powder coating and then chemically treated and wet painted it is likely that a paint more flexible than powder coat could be used and provide very good results.
As always, preparation is the "key".
