Title: TTE Grandstand Wheels
Post by: Gibla on March 10, 2022, 12:37
During my search for a set of 16'' wheels I came across an advert on Fb Marketplace for a set of 16'' 4x100, asking £500 iirc

Maybe of interest for someone, as I know they are very rare?

Also heavy compared to stock. Would be better off looking for a set of lightweight 16" if you must have 16 but IMHO the cars are much better on pfl 15.

Having had two FL's, the pfl set up is better in my eyes too!

The FL geometry changes were to slow the agility down a bit; make it a wee bit more understeered; push the transition to oversteer júst that bit further away.
A bit like adding some ballast in the spare wheel bucket and several like that too.

Well this thread went in a direction I wasn't expecting  :))

But to continue the conversation, how it has currently progressed :-

I like the appearance of the 10 spoke TTE, but couldn't justify the cost, I have ended up with 5x Corolla t sport 16'' 10 spoke alloys - these are 6J so tyre choice becomes more limited again.

I am currently thinking of 185/55/16 or 195/45/16 or 195/50/16F and 205/50/16 R < any opinions welcome  ;)

Assuming that this guide is accurate https://www.oponeo.co.uk/tools/fit-the-tyre-to-the-rim/6-00x16

A 6" rim really limits the tire choices as most 205/45-16 have a minimum rim width of 6.5". 195/45-16 normally have a 6" minimum.

We are running 195/45-16 front and 205/45-16 rear, but on 7" width rims.

You might get away with a 205/45 on a 6" but it isn't recommended.  Most 205/50-16 will work on a 6" rim, but some of them aren't any wider than a 195/45-16
