Maybe I will source unbranded tow straps in red. The trangular metal bracket on those would put the strap neatly through the hole left by the deleted metal tube.

I guess you haven't realised that there is  some weight saving to be had there!

Speaking of lightness, the R is 32 kilos lighter than the regular model.
On first impression that seems not a lot but on a second look it is close to 3% and the context is road legal R version of an already very light car.
Small wonder they added the (albeit very modest) wing to keep it down on the road.
