Title: Air Filter removal
Post by: Anonymous on August 19, 2003, 21:06
Sorry as I cannot find the pics in the archive threads!

How do I go about removing my existing filter again?

Someone was good enough to post pics before, but I am damned if I can get past the "two clips" stage to just open it a fraction!!!!

Hi

By "two clips" do you mean the ones at the back? At the front ie the bit facing the back of the car are 2 plastic tags as part of the filter box. You will need a wide flat screw-driver to lever these apart and another one to ease the lid upwards. The breather rubber tube needs unhooking from the clips and you should then be able to lift the top and push it towards the front of the car enough to get the stock filter out. If you are putting in a K&N it is much less deep and should drop in easier than the effort in getting the stock one out.

Have a go. I'm useless at car engines and I found it a piece of piss to change.

Why do you want to remove your filter?

I would guess to replace it with a K&N or something like that.
