Quite a good day today - Got the new fuel filter and pipes in - gravity leek test was good so connected the battery and switched the pump on - no leaks on the fuel rail or injectors so I'll take the win!

Got the funnel in to fill the oil, wired it to the brace, started pouring, wire shifted and poured oil everywhere! did it again properly, got approx 4.3 ltrs of oil in (to cater for turbo and oil cooler) and cleaned up best I could.
No leaks so disconnected the coils and gave it a cold crank to move oil round - no leaks so far.

I'm picking up a new to me Sparco seat up in the morning so hopefully in the afternoon I'll get it fired.
Just need to add something to the emanage blue (blank map with injector size or pre existing map) but not sure which!

The new fuel filter is a larger diameter to the old one so had to improvise on the mounting - it works but not ideal! you'll see the pic!

The return fuel rail maybe recognisable as I believe Carolyn made it moons ago!

Also a pic of the loop breather - did a bit of research on this and it makes sense. Pipe above the tank on the exit, loop then the bottom bit below the tank then back to the filter. if I go over (which I have previously) the bottom loop will be above the top of the inverted tank so no spillage! took some thinking about!

Little update on the MRX.

Went for the MOT on Thursday and pleased to say passed with no issues, had a good look underneath on the ramps too and was pleased to say very little rust too. Had thought I may need to do some sills or something soon but thankfully not!

Was nice to drive the car again, felt quite sharp and exciting which is good! Have got the annoying k series leak from the rocker cover so ordered a new gasket and will pop that on.

Ordered and fitted some pull handles instead of the stock tubing, gives abit more space and personally think it looks better too!

Next I had been deliberating about a wing I had seen, its the SW motorsports one designed for the TT Cup racing series...I saw it and quite liked it, thought if its been designed for a TT they had a similar body shape/size so should be functional.

I bit the bullet and ordered one, test fitted it with the bumper off to help work out where it would be best.

Then mounted up properly, I'm quite please with it, seems to fit well, blade looks to be at a good height to the roofline and width of the car and is just big enough without looking TOO big and silly.

The keen eyed of you will have also spotted I've put a more normal rear bumper on too, albeit scabby condition I picked it up cheap and wanted to see if without the cut at the bottom it looks better...got to say I prefer it so thanks to 'Superart' for mentioning it.

Have picked up a TRD style rear lip to go on the bottom too so will get that sprayed on fitted.

I had a go at wrapping the wings...is abit fiddly, bit of heat helped alot and a second pair of hands would be really useful. However am not going to call it a day on the wrapping idea, the issue is I'm sure a professional outfit could get a lovely neat finish on the edges and underside of the panel, but me in my garage not so much. I know what I am like and I wouldn't be happy with the finish and the underside of the panels been different colours etc

Have a different plan now which will pop in a few days when I know more!

I bought these and they've been great so far although the price has been jacked up by £20 since I got mine:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154051514021

That's not a bad price for what they are, it's good you can get them aftermarket. I priced two short transmission cooler steel/rubber pipes from Toyota for an original RAV4 a few years back and they were around £200 each. Just got some heavy duty hoses made up at a local hydraulics place for a tenner each, did the job.

Just do it.  You're putting off the inevitable.  Remember when I swore at you about an engine mount???

Front bumper and rear mid tray off.

And @Alex Knight you'll be pleased to know I've ordered some mikalor clamps for the oil drain and charge cooler radiator.

Cleaned the maf and had a look at the o rings on it to see if I can get it a fraction lower in the chamber.

Contemplating draining again, moving the car to the edge of the drive so the rear is facing up hill and I've got a nice slope to try and refill on. And yes @Carolyn  I'm slowly getting to the point of disconnecting the turbo coolant lines...

Have you lifted the carpet & felt underneath the seat for dampness?

The most common radiator leak point is the bottom right corner as you look in....frunk off I'm afraid.
Until you find what the problem is don't trust the temp' gauge, there has to be something pretty major before it shows a problem.
I'd just top up with water until you find what's wrong. Get it properly hot & feel for heat right across the radiator, if it doesn't bleed it. Valve top left.

Sounds like your coolant level has dropped.  Time to look for leaks.  Start with the radiator, then the water pump.

In opening a can of Airco Cleaner, I may have opened a can of worms...

It's in more detail in this thread, but the car has had a slight mouldy smell from when I bought it last summer. I wondered if it was in the ventilation / heating pipes somewhere, and Ardent kindly suggested Toyota's airco cleaner.

Now the ventilation system isn't heating up consistently when I drive, but the radiator fan is coming on when the engine's up to temperature. So I'm looking for a schematic or some information on what I've shorted out or clogged up when using the airway cleaning foam!

(I have a feeling this is going to end up with removing the dash, which at least could be a good chance to clean everything out under there and replace those two dashboard bulbs that have gone. :/ )

I'm not sure what I've started now...

Thanks @Ardent for the Airco Cleaner tip, I ordered that and used it yesterday morning. Seeing foam coming out of the air vents, and then fluid dripping out from somewhere near the glove box when I took it for a drive yesterday evening, was a little disconcerting but it's definitely delivered a lot of cleaner somewhere deep inside the system. The smell of the cleaner is so strong it's hard to tell if the mouldy smell is still there, for now!

But I think something odd has happened to the actual heating. The dashboard temperature gauge showed the car was warmed up after about 5 minutes' driving (middle of the gauge), but there was no hot air coming out of the vents. I tried all the settings, directing air to the screen, footwells, etc., different blower speeds, different temperatures, switching the flap from outside air to recycling cabin air... nothing but cold air blowing. And then, stopped at lights, I heard the radiator fan come on.

I don't think I've heard the fan more than once since buying the car last summer - on a hot day when we were moving very slowly in dense traffic around a gyratory, I sort of expected it. But yesterday was the standard suburban drive I've done a lot in the car, on a fairly cool evening, and it came on and off during the drive, presumably to regulate the coolant temperature, while still the cabin air was not being heated.

Does anyone have a schematic of the system? I've googled but not come up with anything useful (although I've found lots of diagrams of the A/C, which I don't tend to use, and lots of pictures of exhausts, which wasn't what I was looking for!). I'm wondering if I've waterlogged, or cleaner-logged, a switch or a thermostat somewhere in the heating / airflow system that directs engine coolant through an interchanger... or if something else has got bunged up somewhere in there!
