Hi all, some of you may have heard about my project from my new members thread. I'm currently about two weeks away from getting started on it and I can not wait!! The main issue has been that I've been waiting to move house so that i'll have a garage to build it in.

Theres a company called Tribute Automotive that make a panel swap kit using an MR2 Roadster as the base car. It will turn my little MR2 into quite a convincing replica of an RS200 although obviously missing the whooshy "BaaaaaaAAAAAAA (gear change) do do do do do bababang flame" to start with. The eventual plan is to gather enough bits to do a turbo conversion. According to the website, this would seem a perfect starter kit car for someone to take on. So, perfect for me.

http://www.mrs200tribute.wix.com/details

Heres my base for the project.

A standard facelift roadster bought from James and his MR2 on this site. On the outside, apart from having a little hole in the exhaust flexi pipe and a missing spare wheel making the steering at speed a little less accurate than I'd expect, it would appear to be a happy little car. We'll see a bit more in depth what needs replacing when I get round to removing the panels and plastic frunk bits. Various bits will be sold off as they are removed which will help to fund the stuff I need below:

1. Headlights - Mk2 Golf
2. Sierra Sapphire tail lighs, seals and lamp holders
3. wheel spacers or 0 offset wheels
4. Rear window
5. Sierra door handles
6. Hard top (need this a bit sharpish so I can get going with the project!!)
7. Bonnet fasteners
8. Expanding foam, sealants, rivets, tech screws, nuts, bolts, rivnuts, random spare bits of wood and metal, and rose joints
9. Fraud badge for the front, MRS200 badge for the back
10. Paint..... too many options!
11. Loads more stuff to be added as I find I need it.........
12. Ford Sierra door handles
13. Wing mirrors off of er..... something...
14. Fog lights
15. Indicators

So, all I'm waiting for now is my house to complete this coming Friday, my mate to get round my mum and dads with his trailer to transport the car to its new home and lastly, the delivery of the body kit which will be ready as of this coming Friday. As its a new house though, I dare say the wife will require me to get on with some painting and DIY before she'll actually met me crack on with it all. I'll also need to secure the garage with some new door locks and wooden paneling before that happens!

Now before any of you start to tell me that a 1.8 or even a 1.8 turbo will be rubbish, upgrade to a 2zz with a blower, drop a V6 in etc etc. This is a project which is being done to a budget. I'm not made of money so it will be spent when available. Initially, I just want to replace knackered/worn parts and get it looking right. If cheap bits come up (manifold, exhaust etc) then I may splash out. The noisier the better!

At last, moved into the new house last weekend. Collecting the car from my folks place on Thursday and will start taking bits off it on Friday as the wife won't be around barking orders at me. Hopefully I can get all the bits off in time for a very large delivery on Tuesday!!!! I can not wait to get started on this!!!!!

When you get the parts, can you let me know the dimensions of the Recess for the ford logo in the front bumper?
I have a man who can make up the Fraud badges in 3D relief like the originals

Used to do some work with Ford SVE. Supplied steering components on cosworth sierras and the RS 200. Some of the leftover cars were converted by  Tickford. One turned up at the local pub recently. Must be an interesting road car.

I can imagine it'd be quite a scary road car. More for the fact of worrying about anyone hitting it! I really need to see a real one so that I can try to get the details right. There's only so much you can get from a photo.

The kit turned up today and for now it's been plonked on top of the car. Not sure I'm going to have much of a chance to pley with it for a week or so as I'm back to work tomorrow and have house decorating duties. Here it is though.

I've very quickly run out of room in and around the garage due to now having one chassis and two bodies.

Not yet..... I have decided to keep this one as an MR-S and buy another one in poorer condition.
I have a lead on one that I'm going to take a look at this weekend.

Unfortunately, in removing the soft top, I managed to miss a very small plastic clip and put a great big tear in it so thought I might as well make the most of the bits left over. I cut these off it:

These are the seat belt mounts. Hopefully the side covers will hide the cut off bits.

I have a roof upon my roof! Just need to spray it black then it can go be drilled, bolted and stuck on the car.

I've just been to buy some bits and the seller has just completed one of these, he's not a member on here apparently. Have to say it looks absolutely stunning. It took him 15 months, he said he had to make a few improvements along the way in the way it fits. Looks like a really good project, most people think it's the real thing.
Silver 2004 MR2 -  Unmodified but very shiny.

Lamcote, I don't suppose you'd like to share some contact details for him? I could do with talking to someone before I go cutting bids off of the kit.

Essex2Visuvesi, you're gonna be out of luck if you wanted to buy one of these kits. The company is selling the moulds on so I doubt very much if any more kits will be put together.
