New things I've done:

Separated the roof from the rear clam. Was an absolute sod but really glad I've finally managed to get it done.

Ordered my rear lights. When I got my box in the post, I opened it to find two drivers side rear lights. Thanks nob end on ebay. It's actually come as a bit of a blessing to have a spare as I've had to cut bits off to get them to fit. Still waiting for a passenger side one to turn up buy here's how the rear end is looking at the minite:

I apologise for the lack of exciting pictures. It should start to get a bit better as I'm starting to have to fabricate bits and bobs for the hinges so that the rear clam will lift.

On a side note, the car has sat idle for about 2 months and not been started. Connected the battery and still had plenty of juice. Started first time and gurgled away quite happily for 15 mins  s:) :) s:)

that's coming along nicely,we need plenty of detailed pics.I am thinking about doing one of these myself. Have you got more detailed info on seperating the clam?, as it looks pretty scary and you only get one shot at it.
Do you get a build manual with the kit?

Thanks Mr Two   s:) :) s:)

Wozzy, nope, no instructions. I'm just going by pictures and things I've been told by the guy who made the kit and another guy who has built one. If you're alright at bodging things together then this is probably the kit for you. It's a lot of guess work and using my imagination. So far, the only power tool I've used is my brill with a cone cutter and a dremel which came in handy with cutting the roof away which started off being quite scary but I had a plan so just jumped in. Everything else has been done with a cone drill and a pad saw. Saying you only get one try isn't technically true. I've not had any mishaps yet but if I do, I'll buy myself a fiberglass kit and rebuild it then have another go or if I've put a cut or hole in the wrong place, filler will be my friend. I can do some close ups of the cuts I've made for you if you like. It's enjoyable seeing it take shape, especially the rear end. I think it looks awesome and can't wait to get the other light on!

Yes mate, no problems. You may find it hard to get hold of one of these kits now though. They've stopped producing them as the owner wanted to do a new one so he was selling off the moulds. Not sure if that's still his plan or not though. Best give them a call to see.

I was looking into buying a MRS 200 kit and ended up talking to the guy who owns the moulds (Tribute Automotive do the fabrication and handle the sales) with a view to buying them. I understand there is another potential buyer in the mix but just trying to get a sense for how many potential buyers there are out there.

One of the issues is that the kit was structured to sell at £2,500 and there isn't really any margin in it. I've not yet got any quotes from other fabricators but there is a chance the kit price would end up increasing just because Tribute were able to fabricate it so cheaply.

It looks a fantastic project that I want to build myself, but would be happy to buy the moulds along the way if that's the only way of getting a set of panels if I can at least break even with a couple of other panel sales.

Let me know if there's any interest with folks here.

You might want to talk to Nigel Smith on here.
He might be in a position to help laying up a run of these

Nick, your build and pictures here show what a great result you can achieve with the kit.

Have you decided what door mirrors you are going with yet - I've seen one built  with Mondeo mirrors which look a bit angular. Andy also used Celica mirrors I believe on his second build?

Nads, stick up the little video of your rear clam release! It's awesome. I pm'd you on twobrutal (scruff). Any chance you could have a go at those photos for me?

Swifty, not sure about wing mirrors. I was wondering drink if a set of carbon race type mirrors would look any good.

Wozzy, Nads has a thread on Two Brutal which might be worth a look. He's done a LOT of work to the rear of his car. Basically rebuilt it all following a little accident involving the rear window and a bit too much downward force. His is a very close replica to an RS200, not just in the outside.

Have you got a link for the thread please, i have also been in touch with tribute and hopefullythey are doing me a kit before the moulds are sold, if not i will have to find out the new owner of the moulds

I ended up managing to convince Chris at Tribute to produce me a final set of panels from the moulds (I think I'm either 3 of 3 or 3 of 4 of what has turned out to be the "last" set before Andy sells !) so going the new build route, and not going after the moulds themselves.

Sourced an 06 car complete with hard top which has full Toyota SH, is a bit shabby body wise (paint mainly) but that's irrelevant given the panels are coming off and who knows there may be some interest in lights, fog lights and bumpers to sell second hand.

Will start a build thread when the kit arrives and things get going - just assembling various Ford parts now for lights etc.

Good luck to you guys but i have to be honest why do you have to use late model cars.
Arent there enough PFL out there for cheap?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
