Depends on age
Vin
Plate above batt, or door pillar
Or between wipers.
En number not easy to see. Left end of engine as you look at it.

The engine number is on the end of the cylinder head, (to your left as Ardent says) on a small flat area just below the cam cover.  It is stamped in vertically.  It's a pig to get a decent look at it.  A mirror helps - so long as you can make sense of the reversed image.

Just curious... when did Toyota stop riveting VIN plates into the engine bay on the roadsters?

Did a google image search and looked on ebay/autotrader. I noticed that every pre-facelift car I've seen has a VIN plate in the engine bay but most later facelift cars do not. I know that the VIN moved to a sticker in the door opening, so it doesn't matter. Just curious.

My 2014 GT86, 2017 Aygo and 2020 Corolla have VIN stickers in the door openings instead of plates and so does my recently acquired 2005 MR2. So I'm guessing it was around 2003/2004 ish time Toyota moved from plates to stickers?

Searched the forums and the web but found no details on exactly when the switch occurred.

@LeEdFollow

Probably around the PFL/FL change 2004? ish.

05 and no plate. I like the plate above the bat. Japanese writing etc. Just seems fitting.

My PFL has the VIN stamped on the front bulkhead. Just remove the plastic cover to view.
