I have 2 questions about acceleration:

- What is the unit of measurement for Acceleration? G or m/s^2?

- I have 2 different field for acceleration (e.g. on axis y): "Gravity Y(G)" and "Acceleration Sensor(Y axis)(g)". What is the difference?

Carolyn

Both are measures for acceleration. One 'G' is 9.806 m/s2.

One field may include natural earth gravity and the other not (absolute G)

If I want to evaluate acceleration in m/s^2, have I to multiply the accelometer value for 9.81? In particular, I want to calculate the acceleration on y axis because I want to evaluate the gravity of longitudinal acceleration.

Carolyn

What does units does you accelerometer use as output?

Most accelerometers (at least those i've used) tend to output in G-force. So yes, meters per second per second relative to gravity which on this lump of rock as above is 9.8 approx. so yes if you have a G meter, and you want meters per second per second, then just times it by 9.8
