I've recently bought myself a nice black shiny W-reg MR2 Roadster but just can't seem to get a comfortable driving position.   s:( :( s:(

I'm 5' 7" tall but with the seat in the best position I can get it into, the brake and accelerator pedal feel far too close, but my left leg almost locks out to push down the clutch pedal! My legs are the same size! so I was thinking about reducing the travel of the clutch pedal somehow???

Is shortening the travel on the clutch pedal an easy thing to do???

Ummm, I'm not sure it's possible at all, there may be a little adjustment to keep it within manufacturers limits, but no major movement I would have thought. One of the techies will be along shortly....

It's a hydraulic clutch mechanism, so it is self adjusting.

This means the peddle height is not adjustable without major surgery.

Hey another North Herts owner! Welcome   s:) :) s:)

I work in Stevenage and in the last 6 months have seen a lot more MR2s, mostly women but doubt any are on here   s:? :? s:?

I've always believed this to be the perfect driving position (leg wise) for a three pedal car. Basically the accelerator and brake are ankle movements and perfect for heal-toe, where as the clutch is a leg extension movement

Reducing the travel of the clutch pedal isn't the best way of adressing the problem. In doing this you will lessen the feel and responsiveness of the clutch and a small movement will be exagerated.

The simplist mod you could do is to strap a piece of wood to the clutch pedal. This would effectively bring the pedal closer to you and the travel would remain the same. But remember to spray it silver and draw on black circles in order to give it that drilled aluminium look!!!!

Thanks for your comments!   s:D :D s:D  Maybe I'm just being a bit fussy! I had a 205 GTI for 5 years before which was my first ever car, so maybe because I'm so used to my old Pug, anything new is going to feel completely different.

I like the wood idea though   s:lol:  s:lol:

Apart from that I'm completely happy with it. It does get a load more looks than my tired old Pug ever did.

I get the odd wave or two from MR2s going the other way. Is that normal?   s8) 8) s8)  I've even started waving to other MR2s myself!!!

On this note, i actually found the clutch very easy to get used to - its ever so light... i got back in my escort after the test drive and thought my clutch was fu**ed as it felt so heavy... had a right panic!   s:shock:  s:shock:

I had the same problems switching between my old MX-3 and Mrs Filcees Ibiza GTi (when we had them).
