As most of you will recall, my car has been at Toyota's technical centre with a major ABS fault for the past 1 1/2 months with the result that they cannot fix it, and have agreed to replace the car.

It get's better......

Phone call from Toyota customer services this morning :-

QuoteRichard (TCS) : Good morning Mr Jeffrey - it's Richard @ Customer services.

Me: Good morning Richard - are you calling with good news - have you got the ETA for my car?

Richard (TCS) : Not exactly - bad news I'm affraid.

Me: Please don't tell me the car has been written off

Richard (TCS) : Unfortunately the car has been damaged, and is beyond economic repair, so we won't be delivering it to you.

Me: Well you had better get another car then.

Richard (TCS) : We have already ordered one, but it hasn't been built yet - we don't expect it in the UK until late January

Me: <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> incompetant to**ers <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> <bleep> Get your manager on the phone NOW!

Richard (TCS) : I've made a note of your request - I will ask him to call you.

Me: This not a request - tell him to call me before the end of today.

Richard (TCS) : I have made a note of your request - I will ask him to call you.

Me: That's it I'm going legal now - you have until the end of the day for your manager to call me <click>

Anybody know a good (and I mean positively evil) solicitor/lawyer who can handle this case for me?

Its not really on is it - im sure a local solicitor will be able to help. Citizens Advice should be able to point you to a specialist in your area.

The delivery times is crap.  You can guarantee that between now and January there will be loads of MR2's delivered around the country.  Toyota can easily hijack one of these for you, and just shuffle the orders around.

This is common practice, normally seen when "buying" someones place in a queue for a car.

Sue them to hell!.

Well if it was my company, I'd find a nearly new model in a dealership & give it to you until yours was ready. I would class it as a loan vehicle so you only had to pay for petrol (no insurance or service costs).

But there again I am logical & not Toyota  s:!: :!: s:!:

um you cant shuffle someone elses order... if you order straight from the factory, wait time is 150 days. Which means he is already giving you a car that was pre-ordered with no final customer. Keep in mind that MR2's are not high sellers so they are kept in stock at minimums (i bet best time to buy mr2 is april, when bunch of showroom cars come).

as to how they could write off a new car - simply drop it from the truck, get the chasis bent and voila. It happens, believe me.

Sorry to read your sad tale, but if I was waiting delivery of a car and I found I had been bumped so someone else could have a replacement I would not be at all happy.  I may even cancel my order. Whilst it may be common practice, its not right.

Anyhow, Toyota should have  a loan car for you whilst you wait at least.

I'd ask for a refund and then buy a nearly new car which had only done and few k miles and then mod it with the rest of the cash.  But getting a refund from Toyota must be like blood from a stone.

It's getting even worse - a week after agreeing to accept the blue car, it STILL hasn't been transferred from Hull - Toyota are pi**ing about with bits of paper that the bean-counters need to sign instead of concentrating on customer service.

As soon as this car is delivered I'm going to the press - no way will Toyota even come near the top of the JD power survey next year!

This just drags on and on, I'm so glad I haven't had to deal with anything like this. Hopefully it will be sorted in time for you guys to go to Essen, and more importantly the December Mids meet!   s:wink:  s:wink:
