I've had my services there which have all been OK (as far as I am aware).

I too kept looking through the glass window to see it progressing. Last time, at one stage there were 4 people peering in, around and under the car. I did hope they were just very interested in the mods - at least the engine lid was open at that time.

Maybe the MR2 "specialist" has left for pastures new.

I'm probably being a bit harsh I was just annoyed at wasting an afternoon.
the guy doing the checking must have been the lower side of 18 and he wasn't getting much help.
Probably the first Mr2 he had encountered.

Roger, I've ordered you a couple of clamps. I'm picking them up tonight.

Yeah, next time. As to payment, call it rent on the luggage rack!

(he says getting off lightly as they are only £1.75 each)

Nah, got back at about 7:30 last night so was too dark and cold to sort it out.
Looks like I'll just cut through (or break with my fingers) the bolts on the old one.

The TTE I bought from Steve had some broken bolts. The rust holding the nut to the bolt was stronger than the bolt!! I bought new bolts from Wickes which were not quite right, that's why I asked for the clamps   s:wink:  s:wink:

If you can, suggest a good dowsing of Plus Gas (or similar) before you start might help. But there again, the bolts are disposable now.

Oh, BTW, the bolts are held in the bracket at the head end by a square lug, so you have to attack the nut end. The head won't move.

Yep - stock bolts are coach bolts, not plain bolts (just in case anyone else wants to replace only the bolts, and not the clamps  s:) :) s:) )

Unfortunately their coach bolts weren't threaded far enough up the shaft for what was required of them. Don't have tap & die, so bought the plain bolts instead.

All finished.
15 minutes at lunch to do one, the other is in much better condition and the tip isn't hanging off so I'll leave it for the mo.

It was in a shocking state though. I'll put a pic up later. I started cutting the bolt with a hacksaw, no way the head was going to unscrew, as I was cutting, the whole thing was moving and all of a sudden, the clamp fell off.

The metal at the domed end had rusted through soo much the bolt had pulled through it.

I'll do the other one when I have a spare 10 minutes, looks easier than the drivers side one.

Thanks for all your guidence and help.
