Just noticed that Cat Cams are making cams for 1ZZ s8)

I would guess the same with most sport cams. After fitting and properly mapping the ecu you'll get more power at the expense of mpg and, depending how extreme they are, engine longevity.

Don't think i'd wanna just change cams without head work also.

I don't think the cams on the 1ZZ are that bad are they Tem? I could be wrong, as I know the head is a POS. Still good to know we have someone doing them!

TBH, I don't know. My guess is that they aren't bad at all, but not perfect either, so there should be some room for improvement. These seem to be a set of mild cams, which I could imagine being pretty good for keeping the nice overall torque of 1ZZ. Just adding a bit of lift to help the head flow better.

Of course I'm only guessing, but these sound ok to me. Compare these to the ones from Germany, which I think would be too much for 1ZZ:

You're right about changing them to stock engine though, most likely not worth the trouble.

The price seems to be 850 euros...which is £595 today.

I'm interested, but I'm not seriously thinking about it for some time now.

Just got the car back after the blown engine and since they didn't replace the head, I'll drive around for some time with stock engine...so I can go nag at the dealer, if something comes up. And the car won't be driven before March cause of the winter (=salt)..

(but since the TTE turbo won't be legal over here, nor the 2Zz either, I'm thinking of these as #1 option for now)

hmm same here, when I get my licence back my insurance is going to be high enough without a turbo or a engine swap to deal with.

I don't think anyone here has installed these, so impossible to say how they are...
