just had my clutch replaced and 1 week later the gearbox has fcuked up! how many types of gearboxes is ther as ther is 1 4 sale i know of from an 'Xreg' mr2 roadster 5 speed. i have an '02reg' 5 speed.

Basically 2 types - 5spd and 6spd, although you'll get different gear ratios between UK/Europe and Japan/US imports.

You could always take this opportunity to move to 6 speed. There's a low mileage 6spd on EBay at the moment at a realistic price. Search for "zzw30 6"

There is also a 5 speed on ebay at the mo for £200 IIRC

I also have a 79000km 5 speed box out of an MR-S (so jap spec ratios), it also has an LSD in it.

I swapped it out for a near new 6 speed from a UK car when I had to replace my engine.

Feel free to PM me an offer if you are interested, but its in Essex so not exactly local.
