Only kidding!

I thought some of you would like to see my pride and joy Mk1 Mr2

The MR2 started out as a UK spec Mk1 (b).

In 2006 it had an engine transplant from a 1992 Mr2 turbo, this was carried out by a company called Woodsport who specialise in all things MR2.  The old (4AGE) engine produced 122BHP, the new (3SGTE) engine produces 220BHP standard and with a few tweeks now puts out over 250BHP.  Obviously with the extra power, the MR2 needs a few supporting modifications, I have now added a full suspension set up with polybushes and also larager front brakes taken from a Celica.  You'd be amazed at how many parts are transferrable from different Toyota models!

In 2007 the Mr2 underwent a full body restoration including a custom wide arch kit for the rear arches and respray in the original Toyota gunmetal grey.

My Mr2 is 'work in progress' and will be undergoing a few more changes in the future.

I hope you like! Comments/feedback welcome...

Hi,  thanks for the lovely comments..

mine is known as a Mk1.5 as it is half way between a  Mk1 and a Mk2.. it has the 2.0L Turbo engine from the Mk2, with a couple of engine mods   s:wink:  s:wink:

Future mods.. I dont want to give too much away but I am aiming for this to eventually have a fully forged later spec 3sgte with a bigger turbo and 350BHP.  In the immediate future I just need to get the wheels refurbished and fix the driveshaft I snapped at Santa Pod a couple of weeks ago   s:oops:  s:oops:

Here is my other Mk1.. it is a totally original, low mileage 1985 Mk1a..  I love this Mk1 as much as the turbo but they are totally different beasts!:

Unfortunately she has deteriorated a bit since that photo was taken but a full restoration is on the cards, hopefully this winter!

I've had many other Mk1s..  I'm a bit of an anorack   s:lol:  s:lol:

A Mk1 was the first sports car I had a ride in back when I was 15 and was what got me hooked on cars, particularly the MR2.

It's good to see some of them are still being looked after and improved to be all that they can be. I think I'm going to be keeping my Mk3 forever   s:D :D s:D  . In thirty years time I'll be bringing her out of the garage on a summer's day and be taking my kids for a blast in it.

250 bhp in a mk1!    s:crazyeyes:  s:crazyeyes:

That must be a bit of a beast! I'm not too keen personally on the deep dish/euro look alloys but otherwise it looks like nice example    s8) 8) s8)

Shame you couldn't afford a newer car ... I mean erm..  s:lol:  s:lol:

Only kidding Ollie - I love the grey Mk1.. I have a soft spot for them after driving a very battered example only a few hundred yards  s:) :) s:)  I imagine it's a boat load of fun with the 3S-GTE in, too - can I borrow your keys?  s;) ;) s;)

Very nice car - I had a white Mrk 1 for 4 years, and loved it. Nice to see them still so well looked after. Is either one a T-bar version?

Thanks again for the comments.. yes she is a bit of a handful, you have to be very careful with the right foot, and if there is a hint of moisture on the roads then she stays tucked up at home!  It recently ran a 13.3 second quarter mile at Santa Pod with a dodgy start and lazy finish, I then broke one of the driveshafts   s:oops:  s:oops:

This is a UK spec sunroof model.. I have added US spec rear lights, Supercharger engine lid and also a rear spoiler from one of my old Mk1 Superchargers.. I much prefer the import spec rear end.
