Auto window switch question

Apologies if this has been covered before.

I have just bought an 03 plate UK car to replace my MR-S

The drivers window on my MR-S autos up and down but my 03 only autos down. I have to hold the switch up to close the window. I suspect this may be correct function but would appreciate a yay or nay from someone that knows ?

UK cars only auto down. I think there must be a requirement for this market to stop the windows trapping fingers so it's a lot more complex to make an auto-up window, hence they don't bother. It also may have something to do with us not having many toll booths, as a lot more French cars seem to have this function.
