Troubleshooting a C65 MT

Trying to help a fellow forum member on Spyderchat with a recent swap he's done. Here is the story he bought a JDM engine 1zz and 6 speed c65manual transmission which he swapped into the car. The car runs but wont go into reverse. I couldnt find much of anything on this type of issue. The only thin I could find was someone had a trouble with a spacer inside the shaft that wouldnt allow them to go into reverse. Anything else would be appreciated.
