I joined here just over a year ago and I was thinking today, I don't think I've been on a one model forum that has such a widespread membership! The ones I've been on all seemed to have members of broadly similar ages and dare I say it, interests! BMW E36 anyone? Urgh!  We seem to be a very diverse bunch on here which makes it all the better. I know there's the Intro thread but it generally just says a name and the exact car we've bought but who are we all?  For instance I'm 38 and I'm a secondary school teacher. Now I've got to thinking I don't think I ever put my name in the Intro thread so I'm Gavin too!

It does seem like a wide ranging mix of members  s:) :) s:)

My name is Andy (do I get a prize for unoriginal username?   s:wink:  s:wink:  ). I'm 31 and head up the digital team of a specialised(ish) marketing agency.

My car history features a fair chunk of rubbish, but my favourite drives are:

- 1993 Mini Cooper
- 2001 Honda Civic Type-R EP3
- 2003 Sable MR2 (recent addition   s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:  )

Interest wise I'm into motorsport, cycling, films, posh food/drink and a bit of xbox when I can fit it in.
Ex-owner: 2003 Sable - Hardtop, Black Leather, A/C, lots (and lots) of mods

Must say I like the torque of the turbo diesel, it makes for instant thrust at any revs and any legal speed - very lazy driving. I also like +6k revs in the MR2 but it can be a bit manic at times  s:lol:  s:lol:

Focus 2.0L - first car I every really really modified, so much fun, as are the guys on FFOC.
Focus ST170 - great until some stupid woman crashed into it a week after I bought it  s:cry:  s:cry:
Focus ST (260bhp petrol turbo) #1 - Fun until the remap snapped the drive shafts and destroyed the clutch.
Focus ST (225bhp petrol turbo) #2 - Company car - free fuel and tyres - yippee
Focus ST (225bhp petrol turbo) #3 - Didn't keep it long, 19mpg when your paying for the fuel got annoying quickly.

And in the non ford cars I've owned...
1.2L renault clio - never ever ever ever again - don't even get me started what a heap of ****
Nissan Micra - Cost £1000 and quite literally fell apart on me, but I did abuse it.
"the loner" - rusty old Fez for £500 to keep my no claims during FST #2 period  :-) :-) :-)
Honda Civic in champagne colour (aka old mans car) lovely car but made me want to comit suicide.

And of course....

'78 mk2 escort, Ghia no less, with a vinyl roof  s:lol:  s:lol:  (automatic choke, automatic flooding device more like!)
'84 mk1 Astra GTE (best car I ever owned, present company excepted)
'87 Vauxhall Cavelier (got me where I needed to go and that's all I expected of it)
'88 Yamaha DT125 (we've all got to start somewhere and a DT is as good as any place)
'86 Escort XR3i (tidy on the surface, rotten underneath)
'94 Kawasaki ZXR400 (lovely pocket rocket, till someone stole it!)
'96 Kawasaki ZX6R (the start of a long relationship)
'99 Focus TDCi (Fords cheap on parts? Yeah right!)
'00 Kawasaki ZX6R (great all rounder, as good at touring as it was scratching)
'03 Kawasaki ZX6R (told you it was a long relationship, absolute focused track weapon)
'05 Peugeot 307 1.6s (dodgy electrics and mostly made from plastic and papier mache, that and the dodgy passenger footwell braking system)
'07 Kawasaki Z1000 (time to give up the super sport tomfoolery for fear of loosing licence, life and bankruptcy, those track days get expensive)
Current vehicles
'11 Hyundai i30 diesel company car (we'll all be driving Korean cars one day)
'03 MR2 roadster (don't think I need to go into details on here)
'10 Kawasaki Z1000 (you could say I like Kawasaki's, absolute missile, pulls from nothing to way up there effortlessly)

Andrew, 46, background was IT but seemed to have deviated a little - spent 25 years plus travelling the world as an design engineer/project manager for large corp designing/building/installing/running military flight simulators. 3 youngish daughters, 2 donkeys, chicken, wife and 4 cars. Ranging from my daily - 12 year old knackered but never let me down Scenic to a very expensive Discovery 'family car' and the wife's Freelander.
The 2 is my mid-life crisis (2003 sable with TTE bits) – had several 2s in my youth including an interesting couple of years with an rx7, that got me the women that I married then had to sell for the deposit on our 1st house   s:D :D s:D
Love this website - got a lot of useful info and made ownership of the 2 more pleasurable than it would without it   s:bowdown:  s:bowdown:
