Strange rattle?

Hi Guys

I purchased a 2002 MR2 Spider from here: http://www.desperateseller.co.uk/cars-for-sale/toyota/mr2 for just £450 approx 6 months ago. It was only £450 so I wasn't concerned with the condition of the car really. However, there's a strange vibrating sound coming from the right side front lower end of the car. I checked the mufflers, catalytic converter and nothing looked noteworthy. The noise only occurs when I shift from 1st gear to second.

I'm just wondering if anyone had any similar issues?

Most likely a heat shield around the CAT. There is a weld that often cracks and causes things to rattle a bit. It can be removed or jubliee clipped
