Wheels fitted last week.





Noticed with the hardtop off I still have a lot of chassis flex despite the brace from Mattperformance. Today I collected facelift front braces and fitted them.



Not holding out much hope of it making a difference but was easy swap and cheap.

Considered the facelift rear brace bars but they look like they will interfere with my new engine.

Also collected a spare fuel pump so I can convert to return and a spare rear hub so I can see what's needed to make the Celica gt4 cv's fit the hub.

Does the brace replace the mat performance one, or as well as? Wheels look really nice!!

As well as. Prefacelift has the same side braces but not the two bars going across linking them together.

Tuning NA is expensive!

I was out on the beers with the Tdi North chaps on Friday night, they mentioned the toda header and power they get out if the k20a said they make all the difference and how annoying it is when people bring cars with copies to them and then complain when they don't make the same power.  They also said they'd happily drop a k20a in a roadster, thought it'd be easy.

I'm up at TDI next weekend having all the geometry done on the Civic, they have done quite a lot of work on this car recently. Previous owner had it setup at another specialist and have got different heights and camber on every corner. No wonder it torque steers all over the place.

Think its Tegiwa who totally copied the Toda manifold like they have done with loads of other stuff. About 1/4 of the price too.

I'm sort of wishing I had gone down the K20 route with the Roadster now but daren't buy another engine and another set of mounts at the moment. Suppose the 3SGTE work I do is totally reversible in the future anyway.

Touch wood my 2ZZGE has been faultless, if however if ever developed an issue I think I'd go K20.

Engine out today. Knackered now, getting too old for this.











Had enough for today. Plan to have an easier day tomorrow and just clean the engine bay etc.

Not quite, in the process of tarting the engine mounts up and decided to remove the Fidanza flywheel and paddle clutch and go back to stock as I want the car to drive nice. That's tomorrow's jobs.

Good work, how long did it take you to get to this point? It looks like the car doesn't need to be lifted as high as I had assumed to get the engine out. I guess removing the rear sub frame makes it easier?

Took me 4 hours altogether to get the engine out. If you remove the subframe you can spin the engine slightly and drag it through the back to avoid having the car so high. Useful as I'm limited to how high I lift the car as the front lip is so close to the floor even at this height.

Today's work.

Fitted walbro pump. Just waiting for my mate to knock me something up at work to blank off the stock regulator now.



Cleaned the bay. Not that you can tell as Toyota decided to put so little paint in here.





Also removed the air intake tube from the passenger side 1/4 as its no longer needed.

Found some shifter bearings from my mk1 and they fitted the mk3.



Need to get the outer cv's off the turbo shaft now as they need a little machining to fit the mk3 hubs.

Fuel pump fitted tonight. Used the evap line as the fuel return so needed gutting inside the pump assembly and drilling out to 6mm so the fuel can flow through.



Now have feed and return lines. Just need to T the evap line into the filler breather pipe as not sure of the consequences of not having it?

It's in. Clearance is tight everywhere. Had to hack the rear cross brace thing up and planning to move the engine cover catch and bar back as inlet it tight against it.

Better be worth it.

Its a forged build but standard turbo and ecu for now with slightly increased boost. Probably about 280bhp.

Need to cut a touch more out.











Ground clearance is same as with 1ZZ and driveshaft angle is also similar. Happy days.

Great progress....very quick!

Only have weekends really due to working hours so got to make the most of them. Had an hour of light tonight so I replaced a cv boot and fitted the passenger side driveshaft.
