it wouldn't be my first choice but it is unique, and I like that. Plus the fact you've done it yourself, good work!

Yea it wasn't my first choice to be honest either. But there were a few influencing factors. 1 being my first attempt I wanted to use a colour close to the original for ease. 2 this way it's not much different from the original colour According to the dvla, I rang them and explained it was now Matte Grey and they said as long as it's still grey it's fine... I was a little surprised by that view on it. Finally I wanted to go for much bolder colour eventually and this will be a good base for that colour. Here's a couple more pics:

Which spoiler did you used to have? Notice you have holes in the rear lid

To be honest I can't remember. I'll route a picture of it out.

Can't find a picture of it on my car but this is the car it came off.

That plastidip looks pro, how is it applied ?
2004 Facelift in Crystal Silver (sub 30k)  with genuine bodykit,Precats out,Red Leather,Remus Dual Exhaust,Carbon Thresholds, vvti Badging on wings,TTE chrome fuel flap surround,Bridgestone Potenza REO40's ,Aerial override mode,RED Mohair roof, Bonnet and engine cover gas struts and a few other small internal tweaks :-)
And now... Mikes (my own) anti dash creak mod !

Very easily. Just used an electric spray gun. One you sometimes see decorators use to spray walls/fences. Worked a treat. So easy to do. You're welcome to borrow the gear Mike (as is anyone).

are you not refitting the spoiler?

Rob988

#34
Unlikely. I would fit a higher spoiler if I ever get these arches on. IMO if it's not higher than the roof or wider than the car it's probably not doing anything. Although it did look good with a hardtop as well

yeah I think spoilers like that actually suit the car when lowered with some nice wheels and a hardtop. Otherwise, they look a bit crappy!

Nice!
Let us know how you get on.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Here they are.

How are they performance wise?
Ex 2GR-FE roadster. Sold it. Idiot.  Now Jaguar XE-S 380. Officially over by the bins.

Yea they're certainly an upgrade from the stock ones, which is quite a claim as the stock brakes are pretty ace.  They still need a little bedding in before  I want to really test them but for street performance they certainly have significantly shortened my stopping distance.  Will be interested to see how they are after a few hundred miles/some heavy 30-0 stopping.

They certainly look the dogs mate

I'm currently trying to decide on whether once I put a hardtop back on for winter, if I can run it with a wing and the ducktail spoiler.  I'm unsure if it will look ridiculous or not.  I'm siding more with ridiculous than good..

Sounds a bit ott to me but then i am not the biggest fan of large spoilers on the MK3

Aha, agreed.  Although its not particularly subtle.

Try it and take a pic for opinion.

Brakes look ace, do they need a certain size wheel to fit?

What kind of price do they come out as?

Rob988

#48
16 inch for the 304 discs with 6 pot calipers. Price is £649 plus shipping. Mine are 17 so to be honest I could have gone a size up but didn't think it was necessary.

May try the spoiler. The GT2 has both I seem to remember. However my car is certainly not to be compared to that beasty.

Ok that's not so bad because I'm running 16s.

Very good value, if they turn out to be good.  Track work will really show up an improvement. Look forward to hearing how you find them for sure.
