As a recent new member to this excellent site, I must admit to being something of a sable fan. Like many, I think sable in general is rather cool....red leather seats, even better...red hood....a step too far?? Maybe not....but I wonder, in my pursuit of such a car, whether there even exists low mileage examples from 2005 or newer, even out there. Are they a rare beast and an I better if looking elsewhere? It seems silver is the dominant colour for newness and low mileage....from those advertised over the past couple of months.....it's this an optical illusion or is it that you guys have them already locked away in garaged storage for future years? Please help guide a perplexed idealistic novice, the ways of roadster 2 ownership  :-) :-) :-)

Sables do pop up. But they are popular (as they are obviously the very best colour hehdhe). The key is to wait for the one,  keep looking,  and be willing to travel quite a way

Hmm....as I thought....this site's members have them in hibernation  s;-) ;-) s;-)  seriously though guys....if anyone on here does have what they think maybe the finest sable with red leather seats or red edition....please show us a photo. Think of it as a photo off!  :-) :-) :-)
I saw one recently on a 54reg red leather and 55k miles....but was nearly £6k!! Compared to a lower mileage and much younger silver....which are usually £1500 cheaper.....where's the logic?

On our recent North Yorkshire tour there were 5 sable MR2's 2 of which were red editions. Keep looking there are plenty out there.

Even seen another red edition tonight close to Leeds so they are out there. Now is the best time to buy, worst time to sell. What with winter, Christmas and commitments people tend to be short of cash so need, rather than want to sell Their cars. If you have cash then you are in with a chance of a deal.

Keep a look out for a sable if that's what you prefer but be willing to travel, people on the forum are usually more than willing to help you with viewings if that helps. You can always mod the interior to suit you at a later.

When you say help with viewings....what do you mean? Finding one?
Ha, yes...if anyone actually felt like parting with their cherished loved one....then cash it would be...easier said than done!

What is the going rate for top quality leather seats, as good as factory made....and recommendations.....so that I can figure that into my final budget?

Thanks you guys for the help....

I agree with the posts above, patience and travelling when one comes up!

I saw a 80k 2004 on autotrader in bristol recently for what seemed a reasonable £2650, it looked good in the pictures (its gone now before you ask!).

You will always see some silly prices but that doesnt mean anyone will actually pay them.

The sable red edition are certainly my favourite and no doubt I was prepared to pay a bit more than I would have for another colour when I bought mine but the car is always worth what someone will pay for it right?

This my one. I got lucky and it was on my door step. It is a great colour so as others have said, be patient. Good luck.

To be honest...I'm not dead set on a red....but rather any excellent recent sable with red leather seats. There was a gem recently, but they wanted 5300 for a 54reg and 55k....which I thought was at least 500 too much!? :-

5300 for a 54 with 55k is about 1k too much I'd say! Ours is an 05 sable and had 45k which we got for 4300. That's with heated seats and air con. And hardtop fitting kit which I've sold

To be fair, it was immaculate. Perfect wheels, hard top, red leather, ac, etc....still too much though.

That's more than i paid for my 06 silver with 55k red leather ac and hardtop from a dealer so i think you were right to walk away.
I'd say it was 1k over price tbh.
Sable IS the BEST colour but is it worth a premium?
Obviously yellow is worth a lot less.  s;) ;) s;)
