Seen a sable, red edition. In Cannock got 28k on clock service history for £3000.

Check out Gumtree.

Ah yes...looked at this. Seemed more worn than you'd expect for mileage....gone now anyway....but thanks for looking. Think my best bet for the car I want is for a member here to decide to sell on impulse to a keen new member, willing to pay nearer the summer price for the right car......God, I sound desperate eh  :-) :-) :-)

Hi guys...I've finally found a sable with leather seats, for sale....but it's obviously not from one of the members here.....which isn't what I wanted really...before I commit to this private sale...which is a 54reg with 65k......I just wanted to double check there was no one on the fence here who might be tempted to part?
Sorry to bug you guys but it's feeling like crunch time for my official initiation to the group, with my own car!  :-) :-) :-)

Dear members,
I have missed it again....I thought roadsters were meant to be hard to move on autumn winter? I've recently missed two sables in less than a week  s:-( :-( s:-(
If anyone is tempted to part company with a leather seat sable with 55k or less miles at a 'summer' price.....please just let me know  :-) :-) :-)

Hi Ian
Well...that's certainly a sable with leather seats....and lots of little tweaked options. Which of the non standard additions do you recommend most?
Ps is there a 'right' price?  s;-) ;-) s;-)

Oh I'd have to say for driveability it would have to be Matt's underbody brace!!
For pure looks... I like my Simon Tan headlight covers and the colour coded mudflaps and the ducktail spoiler and.......

Was the brace never a standard feature on later cars? How much if a difference do you feel it makes and in what way? Is it costly, to buy, or insurance changing wise?
Thanks Ian  :-) :-) :-)

If its in good order that's a fair price imo.
The pictures were rubbish tho.
What's the betting its got a tte exhaust?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

My thinking exactly.
Great minds and all that.

So....I've contacted the owner....what would you ask him or check for if you were going to potentially buy?
Is the tte exhaust worth having.....and why?
Ps if I get this car...anyone want the style bar straight away....not my cup of tea really....

Just bought and fitted one of those otherwise would have.

I would be interested in the filler cap on an exchange if you don't like that either!

Other here are more experts but,

Check history
Panel fit and finish
See if pre cats are in.

Tte exhaust is brilliant and I'm also on the look out for one of those!

Keep the exhaust they're great.
Sound and look awesome.
Fuel cap i hate and TTE style bar is not to my taste.

Make sure its got decent tyres in the correct sizes all round.

There's a checklist on here somewhere with what to check. I'm sure someone will find it for me!

Over phone:

Service history,
Any scratches, dings etc.
Any tears/repairs in roof.
If he knows about precats and whether they are still in?
Tyres makes, sizes and age?
MOT?
Number of previous owners.
Why are they selling?

On inspection :
General condition,
Check oil colour and quantity,
Check tyres, make, size and condition (just to confirm they weren't lying!)
Condition of rear crossmember.

And all the usual checks!
Worth doing a HPI if you're serious.

As for the tte exhaust, it just gives the car a louder, sportier sound without being too obtrusive. Each to everyone's taste, but I'll swap my standard one for yours!   s:wink:  s:wink:

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for all that guys....I'm guessing if he says what's a pre cat, like I would....it's probably not been done...
As for the exhaust....sounds good...not sure it has one though. How much do you think I'd get for style bar on here and is it easy to remove? On that note...would my local garage be able to remove the pre cats easily?

Looks good to me.
A touch over priced perhaps.
But its a dealer so your not going to get a bargain.

Mmmmmm heated seats.  s:lol:  s:lol:

Not quite sure that it's silver though.

Inclined to agree with you scotte, if it was just under 4, say 3.75k, then I think it would be about right.
