Well after finishing an Enuos Mk1 Turbo converstion a few years back i decided to go back to the Honda thing and run an Integra DC2 (something more practical).
After another year of track days and the annual Ring trip i want to go back to rear wheel drive.

So Honda S2000 was on the list, bloody love thrashing a VTEC on the track, but i noiced on K20.org that the Yanks were putting the K20 into roadsters. So after pricing up and costs to complete an Elise eater the roadster project began...

Did think about the 2zz converion this would be cheaper, but i was worried that it would be enough and cost for Apexi Ecu and mods didnt seem to make sence. The K20 offers more power out the box KPRO ecu's are cheaper plus could always convert it to a K24 or forced induction.
To be honest for reliability i wanted to stay NA rather than bolting on a turbo.

So found a nice 2001 Black roadster with an engine knock.
Still sourcing a Honda K20 and gearbox. Got a price on a package from a supplier in the states.

Started by removing the AC RAD and pipe work (wont run with the K20) and treating and painting any surface rust

Started preping on the engine out, found the exhaust mainfold studs are going to need some persausion:

If anyone needs a Toyota Exhaust or any thing 1zz related let me know i have no need for it   s:wink:  s:wink:

Welcome along.  s:-D :-D s:-D
Good to see you are getting stuck right in there.

Seeing as you haven't yet bought the K20, another engine conversion is to drop in (with mods) a V6. Does that float your boat?

Looking forward to seeing progress on this project. Sounds ace. I think the price has put folks off up till now, but you could inspire others. Good on you.  s:) :) s:)

Looks interesting. What's the projected cost of the K20 conversion?

Apart from a V6/8 swap this would be my engine mod of choice.
Much prefer K20 to 2zz loads of options with it too.
Will watch with interest.

My main concern was the weight difference i didn't want to up set it to much, i take it the V6 and V8 would be slightly on the portly side, although the torque would be fun pulling out of the corners   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

I will share the costs once everything arrives and running. i based  my decision on the cost of buying either Vx220, Elise or S2000, your looking at a £5k marker and of course that kind of money doesn't buy you a low miler in good nick either.

I'm shocked at the price these cars exchange hands for to think the BR coilovers are going to cost more than an MR2 with a years MOT with a New hood

Welcome! This is going to be epic.

I compared the prices of k20 and 2zz and it was so expensive I couldn't justify it.

Can't wait to see it!

Nice!
Where are you getting the modified drive shafts from and is the KPro ecu complex to wire in with the roadster or is it fairly straight forward?

Oh no I think I'm tempted to change my plans  s:) :) s:)

You know you badly want Honda power.
If the 2zz was so great they'd be modding Celicas everywhere.
Instead they're modding Civics and Integras.

I can see that point of view to a certain extent.
Think of all the  tuning options the K20 gives you over the 2zz.
Pretty exclusive mod too.
You know you want it.
