Hi

My mr2is currently ill with knocking noise burning oil so a rebuild is required while I'm at it I'm gonna turbo charge it:)

As we all know Matt has now closed his shop and originally I was going there for the build but obv need change of plans  s:( :( s:(

Any recommendations with reasonable price to get a rebuild as I'm wanting 300Bhp+ the engines gonna have the required forged pistons .. Rods ....  Sticking with the 1zz  s:) :) s:)

Thanks in advance

If your handy with tools and going to build the engine, and if you got the time and space then do it yourself. Frankly engine rebuilds are not hard at all, it just takes time going step by step slowly and surely to make sure you tighten everything up right.

I totally agree with you there there's an actual video on YouTube that a guys actually done a full video on a 1zz rebuild on a corolla  it just looks time consuming  which isn't the problem the problem is space to work   s:( :( s:(   rather than struggling if it's not that much to rebuild if would rather send it away for someone who knows exactly what there doing  if you know what I mean

Someone recommended headcase from twobrutal to me the other day as a good knowledgeable guy about mr2s in  general. I'm lead to belive he runs a garage in Hastings. Maybe a long trip for some.

Quote from: "SuperArt"I also find myself wanting more power (250bhp sounds about right) but all the engine fiddling will surely affect insurance? I mean aside from the official TTE kit, insurers don't recognise aftermarket kits right?

They'll insure you for anything. I'm 35 full ncb car on drive 230 bhp clean licence £400.
I thought you wanted to keep your car Toyota standard?
