Very cool, including literally, frunk Lee!

I see you have cut outs above the McPherson legs; going to mount a brace? The brace for mine should be here in a week. Already have 20 of the push-thingamies for the frunk plastic. As always; the least important things arrive first.
He ain't see the video has he?? Watch and subscribe to Lee's channel. All will be revealed ;)

I've moved the power steering pump and the battery. Removed the frunk and ducted up from the back of the radiators to the bonnet vents.
Cut and refitted the plastics to make it look pretty.

Just watched the excellent video of this being created...well worth a watch.  Looking forward to watching the new FL light units being put together...they could add even another dimension to the car  :)

Ok, so no.

As I commented earlier; totally in awe of his get up and go, simply taking on and completing ánything. Just make other choices myself. In this case a brace
Would love to make a vented hood/frunk though. Unfortunatele the Spanish MoT will fail it. They will argument that in case of malfunction fluids from the radiators can get on the windscreen this way. Been there, done that, they did not like it.
Like the idea of the U-rubber. Makes cuts look a lót cleaner. There are also less hefty, way lighter all rubber variants.Used to have an ultra skimpy kind on a roll for use on motorbikes. Forgot all about that! Oh my, I must be getting réal óld  :o

Cheers, not sure if I'm going to bother with a brace. The struts are so close to the bulkhead I don't think it will make much difference.
Ps does anyone know the proper name for the push clip thingys so I can order some.

Dude you gotta get a getting strut brace... It's an amazing mod.

Agreed. Lee it may seem silly but the front brace really does make a lot of difference. The rear one's the pointless one (over and above the stock cross bars)
...neutiquam erro.

A Google for Toyota trim clips will find
https://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/

that have these and many other clips that may be of use to you

Toyota MR2 Trim Clips

About the strut braces; think of the frunk compatment as a matchbox lower half with the bottom removed.  Two match sticks glued to opposing sides, sticking out below. Now squeeze the sides and watch the ´legs´dance.

The forces on the top support are considerable. Remember thére is where a lot of the forces from the road, the grip, go to. All those forces must be opposed for the construction to be stable.
Action = - reaction.

Adding a brace transfers much of the forces to the opposing side, supported by the road. It is a sort of the one hand shakes the other.
Think of the braces less as reinforcing the box but more as connecting the two legs so forces, action/reaction, can cancel eachother out.

Improved suspension is ever so much more effective when it is well supported.

I've got an ultra racing one, curves round the brake reservoir. Does a great job, they can be bought for just over £100 brand new(I got mine second hand).

There a loads of brands out there, Cusco etc... But I'd just get what's easily available.

As petrus has said, each upgrade exposes flaws in other areas- I fitted my brace before I had my bushings done and was gobsmacked at the transformation.

Cheers guys

I'll get some trim clips and look into strut braces. I have to be careful as my power steering pump is there.

The ultra racing one will not interfere. It goes windscreen side of the brake reservoir so you should be fine.

I got some trim clips off ebay, just need to measure up one of your existing ones to confirm the size you need.

I have a DD racing brace which seems to be a copy of the ultra racing design but was a bit cheaper. I noticed an improvement when I fitted it.

Surprised you are not just going to knock something up in your lunch break though!

I've always just hit up eBay for that and found the right clips within one or two searches.... usually only a couple of quid for a bag of them, incl postage.
